lol, i used to wonder this, then i realized it just meant you didn't have to try as hard and you would still get good marks, still taking gym class in grade 12 just because it's the easiest credit ever.

Thats why there are Honors and AP courses. And special classes for kids who don't have the same learning ability. Most kids aren't dumb, just lazy.

Unless you actually have a learning disability, it's just as easy for anybody to be as smart as anyone else. There is this thing...stay with me now, you may have even heard of it...it's called studying. The "smart" kids do this, and they do well. The "dumb" kids don't do this, and are thus labeled as stupid. Anybody can study and do well in any class, it just depends on how much effort you want to put forth.

well usually fat kids arent expected to spends hours every night working out to get fit for gym class. the reason i dont study for hours every night is because i shouldnt have to. 17 year olds should be kids instead of working non stop. so many of my friends just do work all the time and talk about grade 11 physics like its the most important thing in the world.

I'm with you, what I'm saying is that there is more people with disabilities to learn stuff, than there is people with disabilities to loose weight. And like it has been said here, fat or unhealthy kids are not assigned "homework" to get healthier.

i wass a naturally smart kid in elementary school and middle school so i never had to study. then i went to a prep school where classes were a lot harder, and suddenly i actually needed to study for the first time in my life. i hadnt learned any study skills through the early years so i started to really struggle, while the dumb kids did just fine since studying was already the norm for them.

no not really. before the school system changed from 5 years to 4 of highschool it was much easier to get good marks, and get into university? how do i know this? people in their late 20s told me.

I did not study much in HS. During my 4 years, I did not take a single honors or AP class. All regular with the "lazy" kids. Yea I guess I was lazy. But prior to junior year I had never received straight A's. Usually B's A's and some C's. All the sudden I was getting A's in everything and my workload never changed. I didnt study hours on end I just did what I needed to do.

IMO, You're doing it wrong. Nobody should have to study hour after hour. Just learn how to study right for yourself and you wont waste time.

Note: I got into a 4 year University and graduated from that University 4 years later.

Its not always about how much you study, but how you study.

In highschool, your marks pretty much ARE based on effort. Everything is so basic that if you put the effort into it (it doesn't take much) you will do well. I mean come on, the hardest class in highschool is probably intro calculus.

I don't agree with gym class being marked on "effort". I think if you want to succeed in gym you should have to put the effort in to get good at it. I agree that this is BS. The fat kid should not get an A in gym.

Of course if you want to be a top professional athlete, natural skill is a factor, just like if you want to be a top academic, intelligence is a factor. Still, the effort you put into it is WAY more important.

at the high school level though, ANYONE can put in the effort to ace the tests.

quit complaining that you are wasting your youth and open your fucking textbook for once. It's like an hour of studying a day. I pretty much spend more time than that just organizing my notes.

Mobile. But I didn't know why I was getting a lower grade than a kid who couldn't catch a ball and was extremely put of shape but just tried hard while he also got better grades in other classes because he was naturally a bright kid.

some of the teachers in my district will actually grade you on whether or not you did the work and then actually grade exams, test, etc. Makes the kids who know what their doing not try as hard and the kids that weren't smart and weren't doing the assignment will be doing them but just writing random answers. That's why are test score for the state are so much lower than everywhere else.

I never really studied for anything in my life. Finished german highschool witha  grade of 1.6 and working my way through college atm without studying either. And I wouldnt say I am extremely smart, I jus tthink to myself that if I am at school/university wasting my time there anyway, I can aswell try to concentrate on what those people in front are trying to teach me. So for me, just listening and participating in class did the job all the up to my 4th semester of university so far, and I dont plan on changing that...

unless you have some mental disability (in which case there are other options for you) anyone can get good grades in class. you might have to work harder than other people, but it's possible. some fat kids are born that way, and there's nothing they can do to change the way that they are.

straight up. I already have 2 jobs that I do pretty well at, the only reason I slack so hard in school is because I really don't feel like I have to know most of it. you basically have to learn everything about everything in order to get a good job doing 1 thing.

Well you should have to study at night, and it is expected that you do. I've had it with all these kids complaining about how hard high school is when they don't do shit to change that. High school is easy yes, but people need to put forth some effort if they expect to do well.

It makes more sense when youre out of school. Yes probably over half of the information you are presented in school will not directly relate to the field you end up working in. What school does teach you is how to interact with peers, your superiors, and more importantly how to complete a task even one not relevant to your interests. In my career there are days when what I'm doing seems pointless but it's all part of it, completing tasks you don't want to is part of life. You think high school seems pointless wait til you're paying for classes in college you don't think you need. Sparknotes.. School is boring but important.

I know highschool is important but I don't think that having compulsory credits like 3 years of math is right.

yes genetics play a part, some people are naturally brighter than others, some people have a slower metabolism than others.

still number one, most of the time when we say smart, we mean educated

you have a choice to be educated AND you have a choice to not be fat. Some people might have to work harder to not be fat, or to get educated but anyone can achieve these.
