Ok, so I'm somewhat obsessed with this song. It's one of my former friends band that ended up breaking up like a year and a half ago or so. Anyway, I really like it and have been searching for something similar but I'd hardly consider Edward Sharp to really be similar (which is what my searches keep telling me).

Kind of reminded me of a band I saw at the bar the other night, He's my brother, She's my sister. you can youtube some of their stuff and its probably along the lines of what you are looking for.

bands I already really like.

I just feel like the song is more bluesgrassy/folky.. as were their other songs. It's like nancy sinatra meets the black keys... I wish I could use pandora and combine radio stations and turn it into a magical orgy. But switzerland doesn't allow such shenanigans.

Still need to check out the middle east. The others.... I know quite well and again, weren't entirely what I was looking for. now searching similar artists to the avett brothers :)

hmmmm see, that matrimony song was damn near perfect, not digging the rest of their songs though.

Ughhh... i think i just like the sound of banjos and stand up bass when added to rock harmonies.

I just posted a song that sounded very much like the one you used for reference. They have a bit of variation, but many songs off of the album "Emotionalism" and "I and Love and You" are in that vein as well.

Seriously, made my day. The "similar artists" on spotify are pretty much spot on to what i was looking for... as are they, but they don't have too many songs and i have a little too much energy for their mellow songs at the moment.
