after the success of last seasons thread and the new season only a short wait away after the euros i think it could be time to kick this off

di matteo is set to be confirmed as the new chelsea manager, will he work miracles again?

who's your team and how well do you think they'll do this year?


i'm a sunderland fan and i think we will be top 10 and maybe just sneak into the europa league

well another shitty season is over. One of the worst and most boring seasons in recent memory, but here we are all the same.

I wouldnt say the worst season because there were some great moments but it definitely lacked something special.

I'll just go ahead and leave this here for as long as it stays up on YouTube. As an Arsenal supporter, Garreth Bale definitely deserved CL play, Tottenham did not. What a remarkable season by him, hopefully he goes somewhere worthy of his talent (and far away from Arsenal lol).

eh worst one I can remember in 10+ years. There was barely a relegation or championship battle. Of course there were good moments, but even the most boring season would have that.


Good goal, but we have to stop calling them bale wonder goals.


run down right wing, step left, take a few steps, blast it upper corner. He's done it a few times this season. Stop him from cutting left, and you stop the goal.

I totally agree with him. If Financial Fair Play actually gets enforced properly then Arsenal will come out looking great. Wenger deserves another go at titles too, he's given up so much for that club.

Btw just been confirmed that Mourinho will not be at Madrid next year, also confirmed that Carlo has asked to leave PSG.

^ that is totally true, i just hope this summer we can pick up some good players to solidify our lineup. the team they put out this years needs to have a reworked defense, while they played well at moments they need an overall change up. also get a real go threat like a van persie.

wouldn't that be something if Madrid and PSG did a straight swap, with mourinho in charge of Paris?

As much as I hate the oil-rich clubs, being French I can't help but like PSG. France was always behind in club football, and Paris is a weird place for football. Biggest French city and yet it's only got 1 major club. So seeing a Parisian team representing France and being a big name feels good.


All the Arsenal news is well and good, but I'm not believing a damn thing until I see the players in Arsenal shirts. There have been rumours of a £70mil. warchest to make a title run, but I've heard the same shit year after year. Come sept. 1st they'll have bought some 16 year old Belgian striker. Then Arsene will come out and talk about how he thinks the team is fine as is, and with the maturity and mental strength, they'll make a good run.

yeah like its hard to tell if Wenger is losing it or its all part of a master plan. once that stadium is payed off though we will know, the extra disposable income will have to go somewhere, hopefully for you guys it gets reinvested into transfers + wages and lower tickets prices.

I have never understood French football because of that.. London, Madrid, Buenos Aires.... so many clubs, and then a city like Paris only has one, and it's only been around since 1970... and the other one that has had any success hasn't even been in Ligue 1 since the mid 70's itself... It's odd.

And then at the same time, Parisians aren't all flocking out to PSG matches or anything en-masse. Is it just a parisian thing or something, to not follow club sports or something? Fucking hipsters? haha.

That said, I'm pretty excited to see ASSE back in the fray again, and competing at the top. Those fans are NUTS, and it's awesome. Winning the coupe de le ligue was awesome.

also, Jesus Navas to Man City is done (not a rumour). this is crazy, if it wasnt for a serious homesickness problem this guy would have left sevilla a while ago and we'd be talking about him as one of the best in the world. if he can keep his head right watch out.

Neymar also unveiled at Barca today. turns out the total fee was 50 million pounds. sounds like a lot to me but we shall see

probably a good thing he'll never, ever play there. They said the same thing about messi, but he doesn't seem to have any trouble. I'll be interested to see how he does. Highly rated in Brazil doesn't mean a thing to me. How many failed "next superstars" have come out of South America lately?

Mourinho to chelsea is gonna be fun. I can already tell, they'll win a few trophies, then he'll piss off roman, and he'll get sacked...again.

it really has improved soooo much in the past 10 years though. i watch the sounders once in a while and the red bulls cuz of thiery henry. i dont have a team i really support like arsenal in the mls tho

I really want to like the mls since I can show up 5 minutes before kick off and get tickets for $20, but it's just so bad.

the fans are the worst part I think. At least for the revs it's always a bunch of hipsters who show up 3 hours early, drink their pbr in the parking lot, and wear their 1982 ac milan shirt despite the fact that they hadn't even heard of ac milan until 2009.

(don't get me wrong, I love retro shirts and own some...but come on, at least know the history of the shirt's era.)


but really...screw mls. I go to more Arsenal matches in London per year, despite it being an ocean away than I do revs games.

I watched the sounders and whitecaps game and that game was shockingly well played. Throughout enjoyed it and I was so stoked to see that many fans (52k) enjoying soccer in the US...even if they are hipsters. Getting more people in the US into soccer is never a bad thing and can only result in improving the MLS in my opinion.

I "support" the Earthquakes since they are like my home team and they've had some exciting finishes in past with come from behind wins. I'll definitely go out to some games once they get their new stadium built, it's supposed to be super nice.

it's a dream of mine to watch an arsenal game. i will do it someday soon.

and i mean soccer in the US is really in its early years still, youth soccer is starting to explode on the west coast and around the US. just in my time playing soccer through ODP and academy teams iv travelled around the US playing and have lovvveed seeing more people excited about the sport.

it's amazing. I've now gone to 18 matches and I remember all the details every single one of them.

my first one was a life-changing moment though. I was studying abroad (IE taking a few classes while i lived in london just to see the Arsenal) and had everything all lined up.

But when they played the intro video and the players walked out, I couldn't help but shed a few tears. I'd waited for that moment for almost 20 years. 2 decades just to see them play. All I could think of was the workload, the paperwork, the flights, everything that got me there, including the highs and lows I'd endured watching them on terrible online streams/radio/tv in the US over the years. Couldn't control myself. Probably the happiest moment of my life so far.


So then of course they went and lost 3-2 to West Brom.

almost 20 matches in though, same feeling still hits me every time.

Yeah, I heard about that match. That's an incredible turnout.

I grew up going to Quakes games at Spartan stadium, since it's on SJSU's campus, and my dad's alma mater, so we got free tickets all the time because of it. Was really fun to watch Landon Donovan before the circlejerks came out. So they were sorta the first team I really followed.

But then they moved to Houston, and when they came back, I moved up to Oregon for school... where the Timbers play... so my allegiance sorta got split - especially with the downright fucking insane fans PDX has.

You can call them hipsters there too, but they are some fucking god damn loud hipsters. They don't fuck around when it comes to support.

As for SJ, I didn't get into last year's "goonie squad" like I should have, but I did pay attention when I could - especially to the Clasico, because I fucking hate the galaxy and all that LA's piss ridden streets stand for...

Hopefully now that the Quakes are getting a new stadium things will look up for them too. I might even start supporting them again now that I'm relocating back to CA this summer. Maybe attend a match again.
