after the success of last seasons thread and the new season only a short wait away after the euros i think it could be time to kick this off

di matteo is set to be confirmed as the new chelsea manager, will he work miracles again?

who's your team and how well do you think they'll do this year?

first off, 12 million is pretty cheap these days compared to most top deals. and he's played 4 games with liverpool. let's see if he can keep it up.

i think not playing is a pretty good indicator you aren't great. also the fact that when he does play and he isn't great is a good indicator he isn't great.

ha. the notorious ballhog, sturridge, the man who has been publicly scolded on multiple occasions for being too selfish now is known for his "vision, and passing ability?" rich that you say that then call people on here uneducated when it comes to soccer.

in theory, yes, capable, but in reality they aren't performing.

also rich that you call people uneducated say that liverpool are now going to be "sick" because of the sturridge addition. i do like that they are at least trying to play soccer and pass the ball on the ground with rogers as their manager, but they just don't have the players to really pull it off

terrible win by Arsenal today. Continued the trend of playing like shit, only this time cazorla was able to dig us out. Already dreading the beating bayern are most likely going to heap upon us

Thankfully Everton lost though.

They also just haven't been able to create chances for the past few weeks. And the fact that their defense sucks doesn't help. Szczesny has been playing pretty well though.

Good thing Chelsea lost today. Now West Ham just needs to beat Tottenham and Arsenal will just be a point off 4th and 2 points off 3rd. It's actually crazy that after the shitty season Arsenal has had, they're still two points behind Chelsea and they advanced further than Chelsea in the Champions league, when Chelsea purchased Hazard and Oscar for quite a decent sum.

szczesny has been a bit shit lately. Should have done better against blackburn and against villa. Can't completely fault him because he's very young and has a terrible defensive unit in front of him though.

the defense overall is a cause for concern though. Vermaelan can't get it together, koscielny can't get off the bench, and sagna's absolutely lost it.


podolski is still quality, but theo and giroud need to get their shit together. You can't have your top striker on the bench because he can't score a tap in.

the midfield is fine. Cazorla is as good as ever, wilshere is becoming consistently good though he does still have a few hit/miss matches. Ramsey is on his way too, much better player than he was just a few months ago.

Diaby doesn't even count as an Arsenal player anymore. Gervinho needs to be gone. I'd love to see coquelin or eisfeld get more chances but its not the time of year to take risks.

Good god the West Ham v. Tottenham game was amazing. Disappointed Tottenham won as they're starting to pull away a bit from Arsenal but that goal by Bale was ridiculous. Hopefully Arsenal has a game plan to stop him on Sunday.

it's true. Zidane's been spotted watching him.

And Zidane is the Madrid angel of death. He appears relatively quietly and no one takes note. Then next transfer window, whoever he was watching gets snatched up by Madrid. I would rather have scouts from every rival watch my star player over Zidane.

spurs are a joke and its gay they didn't sell him last 2 years when he's wanted to fuck off. Bale might be the best player in the world hes right up there with Messi.


I am still devastated we didn't get a point vs those cunts. I hate that team. Good luck to Arsenal finishing top 4 I think you can still do it. Sorry we let you down tonight and didn't take something.

Just hoping my Irons stay up and sack Allardyce and get a new manager. Andy Carroll should be enough for that, played well tonight.

I wouldn't rate bale as equal to messi but he is absolutely dragging Tottenham into the champions league on his own. Without him they'd barely be a to half team, let alone challenging for third.

No, just...no.

I don't think he'll be that great of an addition to Madrid, they already have a much better version of Bale in Ronaldo. He'd have to compete with Di Maria for a starting spot, and, when Di Maria is on top form, he's better than Bale. I suppose he's a not a bad option to have off the bench, though. He does fit their current style of play pretty well, fast and furious and preferring power over technique.

Yeah, Sagna is absolute shit. Vermaelen is very hit or miss. Koscielny was great last year, he's been okay when he's played this year. Mertesacker has been the most consistent defender probably. I like Gibbs and Monreal though, they're both pretty decent, at least compared to Santos...

Arsenal's midfield is very solid though. Wilshere is my favorite player and him and Cazorla are fantastic. Wilshere has been hit or miss, but I think he's been good more often than bad/average. Arteta is usually pretty solid too.

Bale is by no means Messi. He can be compared to Ronaldo, but not Messi. Two totally different players. Messi is the best. And also, in my opinion, Iniesta is the second best player in the world, if not the best. What he does is just magical. I hope Bale goes to Madrid though. He definitely would fit in there, but he'd have to fight for playing time.

Personally, I think attribute wise, Ronaldo and Bale are much more complete and well rounded players than Messi. Ronaldo and Bale both have great skill moves, speed, understand the game, can play practically anywhere on the pitch, have great weak foot, great in the air, and I'm sure there's other important things that I'm missing. Messi on the other hand has everything that Ronaldo and Bale have aside from being great in the air and having a good weak foot. Those two things make him theoretically a worse player. BUT, Messi seems to be able to pull off the unthinkable time and time again. All three fantastic players to watch in action.

to the dude above: Carroll is the best big target striker in English football. With the awful negative shit West Ham play under this manager we are unbelievably lucky to have him. Would be certain for relegation without him. England fucked up playing Welback over him at the Euros. Sure his game isn't perfect for certain teams but it is for the fucking negative garbage we play right now which is disgraceful to our traditions.

hmm not really, to describe bale and ronaldo as more rounded players is pretty ignorant, you forget that messi has been at barcelona for the majority of his life, their training tends to produce very well rounded players especially in terms of passing and vision. Yes he is not lightning quick but he plays the offside a lot better than both bale and ronaldo, where he does not have the 'skills' he still dribble past far more players, his free kick taking is better than bale but perhaps not ronaldo, i personally don't find messi that interesting to watch purely because he is so consistent and prefer the likes of ronaldo and bale who produce moment of absolute brilliance from knowhere, whereas from messi its expected

He's been playing very well, yes, but lets see him keep it up for 3 or 4 years straight before putting him next to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.

Oh, goodness. I don't know why skill moves make them better than Messi, who is such a good dribbler he doesn't need skill moves to beat people. In terms of understanding the game Bale at least, and probably Ronaldo too, are both far behind Messi; he sees the field much, much better than either of them do. Ronaldo and Bale can't play in the middle. Ronaldo has a great weak foot, Bale certainly does not. What you're forgetting is that Messi is a much, much better passer than either Bale or Ronaldo as well as a better dribbler. The combination of those two things is what makes Messi so good, that he can run at full speed at a defense while surrounded by 2 or 3 guys and still see and make passes to his teammates

The battle for 4th is shaping up nicely again. That said, I feel like it will come down to Spurs and Arsenal in the end. Tottenham have the hardest schedule of Arsenal/Chelsea and Arsenal is, well, Arsenal. Only 'advantage' that the Gooners have is that they don't have Europa to worry about (Champions hopes were dashed by the 3rd Munich goal) and really only have two big EPL games left (vs. Spurs and Man U).
