Weird, spooky, unexplained shit that people find or come upon in the woods. These threads are fucking great. Here is one from Glocktalk


there are plenty more on other forums, making for hours of fantastic reading. thank me later.

I'm not sure if anyone has any stories on here, but feel free to contribute. I only have found some pretty decent sized pot-grow ops and an old crashed wwII bomber that was previously discovered and documented, nothing that exciting.

All in the same day i found multiple almost complete sets of dear skeletons that were eaten by wolves, the coolest tree fort i have ever seen in person (had furniture decorations and everything), and 3 garbage bags full of dead geese (fucking poaching pieces of shit).

I live in a pretty remote area, and yesterday me and some friends went up to some old mines, and found a bunch of crystal formations, and an a mine shaft surrounded by bars that went probably 300 feet down.

I also found a bucket taped shut in the woods not to long ago, it had the weight of a human ,head or a baby, but it turned out to be a burly ass fish head that was fuckin huge and definitely did not come out of any of the lakes in colorado.

and i found an old ass pipe and some weed in a little bag up by a pond the other day

Ive also found old animal traps and shit up around my house

While going to my friends barn around midnight to get something for his mom, we passed through a tight stretch of road bordered by a fence and trees, he shined his flashlight a bit to the side to check out the woods, and we saw a nearly hairless coyote with scabs all over it's back staring back at us, and walking towards the fence (the fence is just wood and is easy to get under). We didn't waste time in getting home after that.

near my cabin i was roaming through the forest and after walking for like 10 minutes in i found a mini ramp that had a tarp on it, and when i took the tarp off i found that the top sheet was brand new. now i skate it all da time and its pretty sick. its weird cause ive never met the guy who made it even though im at it all the time

all of that was probably from me when i was little, i used to have so many pocket knives, and make tight forts in the woods, and we would have nerf fights, we also had this house project where we dug a big ass hole, put a roof over it, and put random ass things in it like my dads tool kist, an old printer, army cases foll of chewy bars (never ate them) and a garbage bag full of some grass that look like wheat. im not sure what we were doing but im sure i could find a ton of knives in the creek by the fort.

there was an old ass car that had crashed at the bottom of a valey, i found it when i was like 10 years old.

probably the weirdest was when i was hunting with my cousins in the middle of nowhere, miles from any road, and i sat on a log and the top was wobbly so i lifted it open and it had been dugout and had a zip lock bag with at least 300 cigarette (used but taken out with care), and walky talky that had been rusted the shit out of. the walky talky hadn't been touched for years and defenatley didn't work, but the bag of cig filters had been an accumulative thing because some looked newer than the others, and the bag was not dirty at all, like no dust or crap from the log which was decaying. I dont know what you would do with used cig filters, but who ever was doing it was saving them cus the leftover part of the buts were scattered on the ground. and it was wierd because it was at least a day or two from any road. All i can say was we jumped at every sound we heard for the rest of that trip.

I have a big ass forest in my backyard and like 10 years ago there was a coyote den that had dozens of cat collars and bones in it. there was also a rusty frame of an old ass RV

another fun one from the glock thread




well here's a story that happen to my family, though i wasnt there. my parents and my grandparents and younger cousins wouldnt all lie about the same thing, so here goes.

my family (along with me) usually go out to the woods every couple years out passed goldbar, wa

well this time i was in college and the rest of my family went.
they passed up a cabin about 100 ft into the turn off into the woods. they also see a rope hanging from the tree near the cabin.
they keep going further into the woods and stop near a stream. park and every one gets out, skips rocks takes pictures, eat lunch, just having fun as we always do out in the woods.

so after about an hour, my mom spots someone way out in the woods across the stream. she says the way the person was walking seemed very suspicious. she kept an eye on em but didnt stare the whole time. few more minutes and she see's someone else out in the woods, at a differnt angle. less than a minute after she starts looking all around here and from every angle, there are people who look strange from what my mom told me.

she then realizes that they are all closing in on my family slowly but surely, and then notices a woman with a large size skillet in her hand. she then tells my dad and brings it to his attention and he then notices. as my dad say's "what the hell" my little cousin says "auntie look" and my mom and dad and grandparents turn to see a guy with about 3/4ths of his arm cut off, and he's holding up a huge rock with the knub of his arm. my dad then goes for the .357 mag in the trunk and waves it around. the poeple then stop from closing in and are at a stand still. pops orders everyone to get in the car and with the gun still out, they jump in and take off.

my dad has no idea what the hell they were doing, but my mom insists on beleiving they were cannibals-true story

Camera's dead an rain scheduled for the next 3 days, so I don't think I'll be taking any pictures before the weekend, but from what I can remember:

-Old car from the 40's buried in a stone wall
-Mechanical Reaper (Ancient farming thingy)
-Small shed about 6x6 feet. Small bed inside. Rotted too hell.
-Large Cellar hole, like 15 feet across.
-Smaller Cellar holes
-Abandoned water pipeline, like a foot in diameter.
-Even older Abandoned water pipeline, from the 1840's. Runs from the lake near my house to a hospital in town. It's made out of brick, as the bricks have begun to push through to the surface. Haven't found the entrance yet, would love to someday.
-Abandoned Cemetery with 3 people, 1 a Revolutionary war Veteran.
-Too many Tires too count
-Abandoned dam on the lake I mentioned above. It's just a small stone wall below the current dam, but I never knew it was there until they just did logging
-Abandoned mill site with a sketchy wooden bridge over where the water wheel was.
-Numerous Washing machines and ovens from the 40's and 50's.
-3-4 assorted pieces of different car chassis.
-V8 engine all own it's own
-Rock pits
-Muffler from my dads tractor that he lost like 30 years ago.

i found an old rusty machete hiking tuckermans ravine once. ive been told there is a hermit that lives there.


once i was walking through the woods with my family setting up tree stands. i get up in one stand to see what the view looked like and saw a hairy naked man. i found out that day that my neighbor runs naked in the woods in his spare time.

there's a quarry behind my house as well and my friend and i found a huge wrench

abandoned house which we destroyed and smashed and tagged the fuck out of. it had this sick mini four stair and hardwood floor so we skated inside it too. then a few months later they tore it down and started developing but we got shit tons of free wood so it worked out pretty well

I was out with a friend exploring a fairly popular cave called ing's mine. We got bored after two hours and went looking for another cave, close by we found one with a waterfall coming out of it. I put on my hiking boots since they are waterproof and scaled the waterfall. We started going into the cave, it started out about 5 feet wide but eventually it got very think, I could just squeeze through. My friend noticed that the cave was very tall, easily 40 feet so we started to climb up the side of the cave.

At the back of the cave there was a hole that you could continue through, we shimmied our way to the hole and went in. At this hole the cave split, the water was travelling 20 feet below us and the hole kept on going back. By this time we are easily 150 feet into the cave, the only light is coming from our flashlights. I crawled through a crawl space and looked up and saw a bug's leg that ways probably around a foot long. It resembled an excessively large cricket that was completely white. That scared the shit out of me so we got the fuck out of that cave.

After that we walked alongside the cliff wall that the cave was in and found a rope hanging from the cliff right beside a long narrow fissure. The rope disappeared around 20 feet up into the mouth of a cave. My friend and I decided to try and climb the rock wall using the fissure, we didn't trust the rope so the ascent was fairly difficult. When we got to the top it was obvious that someone had been making regular trips to this cave, the rope was attached to the rock using rock climbing anchor's. We decided to venture into the cave, it started out barely large enough to walk then got smaller, about 25 feet into the cave I could see something at the end but I couldn't make it out. We started to crawl through the damp dirt, by the time I reached the end I noticed that someone had mined into the mountain about 75 feet. There were shovels, pick axes and hoes at the end. The tunnel ended there so we decided to leave.

I have no idea why anyone would want to mine into the side of the mountain, there are warnings about sulfure deposits in the mountain however I don't think anyone is interested in mining for sulfure. Definitely the weirdest things I have ever found out in nature.

Ive found some weird stuff while out in the woods in Vermont, mainly with my dad because he knew about them first, he's always exploring new places.

First he knew about this cable that ran up the side of this mt. to a ridgeline that was connected to some satellites back in the 60's during the cold war period. We were straight up walking in the middle of the woods miles from any road and came upon it, confirmed it use from the writing on the casing, and followed it up the hill to where it ended at what is now a summer house only accessible by a hiking trail.

Found a boat in the middle of the woods, no water anywhere nearby.

Came upon an old shed in the middle of a field that was filled with old farm equipment and stuffed scarecrows propped up.

Found many old graveyards from the 1700's in the middle of the woods, which use to be farms and towns back then.

An old girl scout camp.

So many others things I just cant think of right now.

Deffs some odd story's here... I may have found something here or there that I can't remember. Once found an arrowhead on the beach of my cabin, it has native history in the area which makes it pretty cool to come across

-A really old belt that had literally been grown into a tree somehow. the tree's wood and bark had completely grown around the fabric of about 4 inches of the belt. It was really hard to pull out.
