So a very close friend is having me film their wedding this weekend. What type of equipment is absolutely neccessary for this to be a good wedding video. Can someone send links to cheapest gear but good quality. WIll i need some sort of camera light in the dark hall while dancing at the reception. (using t3i). I need links to some good wireless microphones. Maybe a link to a good monopod and cheapest t3i batteries. Good priced SD cards. Im very under geared here, but im dedicated to make this as good as possible for my friend whom ive known since age 6 :p . Any tips and techniques will be appreciated thanks guys!
you're going to need a second body. Something that can run the whole length of the ceremony as a cut away cam to keep things interesting. You'll probably want a buddy to monitor that too.
An audio recorder for the voices+ some lavs is mandatory if you want decent audio
lenses, you'll need something very very fast (low f-stop)
Renting is going to be your friend. Hop the fuck on that though as it sounds like you dont have much time!
If you have two cameras filming the same thing, you can cut from one to the other while editing. Thus, one is a main camera, and one is the "cut away" cam; the alternate, the backup, the option.
11-18mm is pretty wide, and chances are you won't be close enough to use one, especially not during the ceremony. Something mid range like 24-70 would be best, if you could only have one lens. Ideally, you could cover the whole range with fairly fast lenses. Remember, low f-stop; you'll be shooting in fairly low light.
You better hustle to get this shit, you started preparing WAY too late. IDK if you'll be able to get any of this stuff by then, but I wish you luck.
