Best mtn. to go for a fist trip out west?

next winter my dad is taking me out west for my 16th birthday, i live in ohio and ski at perfect north slopes, but i am dying to go out west,

I just wanted to know what the best resort to go to would be, i want a lot of ride vs wait time but i also want a really sweet place to ski with a nice intermediate to medium sized park

any thoughts or suggestions?

I also think that you should check out Utah. Snowbird, Alta, Park City. You can't really go wrong.

if you go to CO don't ski copper.. went out there for nationals in april and over break in december and the park sucked both times, and besides the parks, vail and breck have 10000x better skiing... i've never been to PC but my brother and dad went out last year and said it was amazing, so many resorts within like an hour and you can ski crazy parks at PC and then some super deep pow out at alta/snowbird, so that sounds like a good option for a bit of everything, but lines may be crowded.. as for something different, maybe sun valley in idaho or big sky in montana

Copper was sweet in February and won best park in CO award, i don't know what was so bad about it when you wnet, it also has great terrain in the bowls.

Really? Don't you ski at Nashoba/Wachusett, Copper in comparison is great. Also they made a bunch of tables and a few Hips/Step Ups when I was there. IDK about the rails but they weren't that bad of rails maybe in December the Park crew sucked or something. IMO Copper is sick. As is Vail both are underrated compared to Keystone and Breckenridge.

Meh, Nashoba's jumps had too big lips and not far enough gaps. IMO Copper had some sick jumps but W/E, did you like Vail's park? Pretty sick! In terms of Jumps I would go as far to say Vail>Keystone

Didn't ski Vails big park, and really only hit rails at Keystone so I'm not too sure.. And IMO nashobas jumps were pretty perfect, if the lip was smaller and gap was bigger you would need way too much speed

Why not go on a cat skiing trip? Interior of BC is an adventure beyond the skiing. Way more memorable and a real "wilderness" experience. especially compared to SLC and the rat race of a resort.

Brighton (SLC), best of both worlds, not a big "resort" i.e. not overcrowded with newbs waiting in line (mostly)

Sun Valley (ID), look it up, dope park and it's Sun Valley, just can't go wrong.

The choice is yours young padawon.

I am mainly talking about the 1st one, the 2nd was pretty good as far as stepdowns go, I prefer tables and step ups more. Also did you like Vail's Bwana park, IMO it was pretty fun.

I actually recently went on my first trip out west (January 12'). I went to Utah in Snowbird, Alta, and Park City. I would totally recommend it. Snowbird and Alta are both great mountains for powder, regular, and just fun skiing. Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) I would say because it allows you to relax, kinda just hang out. Lots of park if you're into that. A lot of cool people. And even though it is called 'Park' City. It has a great range of other trails. Such as bowls and a whole bunch of other stuff. I also heard that Canyons and Deer Valley are quite good as well. Anyway, hope you have a good trip/birthday!
