HELP me choose bindings

i just bought some k2 recoils (90mm underfoot) and want some advice for bindings. im 5,7 125 pounds and want to ride with din of 7-9. I also want a light wight binding. Any advice?

FKS140 is a little overkill, and its not exactly light.

Really you just want a 12 din binding, and there are any number of good bindings in that category. Go see what your local shop would recommend for you

Tyrolia/Deadbolt 15 for added durability, or the Deadbolt 13 if you can still find last years version because it's lighter and cost less but with the same great design.

This is correct. However, are you still growing? because if you are, the fks will hold up, and as you grow and you increase your din, you will need to raise your din, which a 14 din binding has more room for.

I was considering the griffon but heard that it is very not durable. any thoughts?

I'd avoid markers like the plague. I mean, if you're only 125 pounds it might not be a big deal, but they just aren't a super solid binding. I've seen lots of broken griffons.

Yeah at your size and weight the griffin could work fine.

Other bindings id look at are, Salomon STH 12 driver or the FFG 12 which will be a bit cheaper but not quite as durable. The axial 12 could be good too, but its quite heavy. The peak 11 could be an option too.

True. It would be ideal if he could find the Deadbolt 13 because you get a quality binding, but just cheaper and lighter. Good range too.

As for the Griffon I would personally stay away from it. It appears that you're still young so you want a binding that you can have for 3 or 4 seasons at least, and getting one in the 12/13 DIN range would allow some growth, but get one of higher quality.

Griffons are really a hit or miss. Ive had a pair that rocked. And one that just broke. Its hard to get durability on a 12 din binding. Just go 15. Its better for you!

I liked my griffons, the did what they needed to do. But... i also have had fks 120's which i loved. i found that the groffons were heavier than the fks' but way less durable. I feel like the griffons are a waste of weight because the have such a large mass, but of plastic. The fks' are a pretty low profile ( i dont know how to explain) like they have a pretty slim heel peice, and toe, like they dont look burly but the metal keeps the durability. My only problem is I break a shit ton of brakes, but the only way i could afford fks bindings is if i got them used from this site, so when i broke my break i had to get a whole new baseplate because that broke in half, so my shop wouldnt get me a new base plate. So if you break alot of brakes, i wouldnt recommend the Fks'. When i broke the brake on my griffons, i could just take the brake off and keep ridding. Maybe look into getting sth 12's. they seem solid.

In the 18 DIN variety, they weigh about as much as most other metal bindings in that range.
The 14 is slightly on the heavy side for a 14 DIN binding.

The Fks 14 is quite heavy but there's 2 other things Id consider. One it has a full plastic toe, and I have seen quite a few break. But more importantly is the brake/baseplate issue. Unlike all other bindings you cant easily switch out brakes. The brakes are becoming harder to find in shops as Rossi do not want people messing with the binding. If you cant find them in a shop, you have to send the heels back to rossi to change the brakes and its very expensive.

That would be the main thing that makes me not buy, what is admittedly a very good binding.

The FKS will hold up, but if he's still growing and feet are still growing, the FKS do not have a lot of room for adjustment (don't get the FKS if you are planning on using the same ski for over a season, if you think you might change boot sizes in a season).

Look at any px-12 bindings. I have a pair of dynastar "look" px-12s and the things are bomb proof.

Yep I'm around his height/weight 5ft8 and 120 something and griffons are perfect on my 171 AR7s
