1080 Boot vs X-wave 8

I went to my shop today and tried on a few different boots, different brands, etc. well, I narrowed it down to the 1080 and the X-wave 8. I like the stiffer flex of the 8 for carving/overall but the soft flex of the 1080 felt very nice as well, but I can tell I would sacrifice performance. Anyone out there with the X-wave 8 and do you ever get shin bang? If you haven't worn either of these boots, please do not respond. Thanks

sounds like you need the 1080 promodel. that way you get the stiffness of the xwave as well as the heat moldable liner (which i don't think you get with the reg 1080)

i ride xwave6's and they only give me minimal shin bang when i land WAY backseat, but they aren't as stiff as the 8's either

haha, well I will let it slide. The x-wave 6 is almost the exact same as the 1080, just different colors, etc. same flex

yeah but the heat-moldable-ness is key in my book.....most comfortable boots i've ever skied in. by miles.

but yea guy, what about the promodel? do they not carry it at the shop you go to?

Pro model are twice the price of the 1080, and is the reason of existence of the 1080.

The 1080 boot IS the exact same boot as the x-wave 6, only difference beeing the cushioned footboard.

These boots are low quality boots, bottom of the line boots. If you dont have a lot of money, go for it, x-waves in general are great boots, but dont get the 1080 because you think they are good boots and stuff.

Only reasons to buy the 1080:
You went to try MANY boots on, and they were the more confy,
They are cheap, and you dont have a lot of money.

If you can afford it, get the pro model. This is a real jib boot, a real freeride boot.

yes gentlemen, sadly they didn't have the Promodel boot :( how crummy is that? anyway, I think I might get the X-wave 8 and definitely custom footbeds. If I could get the promodel boot for a decent price elsewhere I would.

ummm i got 1080 bec price mostly and i can just get plugs to stiffen it up but promodel = $$$$

i just got the x-wave 7 at rei.com for $159. it's last years model, but i went to rei and tried them on and they were so much better than what i have. plus retail was 50 bucks more than the 1080..

i have the x-wave 8 and i love them... if you ski only in the park than take the 1080 if not the xwave8 would be perfect...

i know pocket rocket i use to race and had the cources and the pro model is a softer cource well i did have a lot of money so i got the 1080 but.... i can use my plugs and stiffen the 1080 if i want to..... if i had the money i would of gotten pro model but 1080 are comfy
