Painting ski boots..

Is there any way to paint a ski boot? im trying to be all murked out but i have the fulltilt dropkicks and need them to be black... if you know any way other than rattle can and house paint please let me know thanks

i would not paint them with a rattle can. you will get mad peel when the boot flexes in the cold. Buy the black tongue from FT then maybe try rit die with the rest of the boot. or the easiest thing to do would be sell em on here and buy a pair of first chairs

I dyed my spks about 4 years ago with rit dye. Hasn't faded much at all and still looks good.

i didnt like the first chair im more of a park skier and it would be very hard to sell em they are 29.5:(

Then get a softer tongue. I use my First Chairs in the park everyday, I hate soft boots. There are also quite a few boot dying threads on NS. The best way is to dye them. Or not be so self conscious on the colour of your boot.

There is a paint that's just made for fabric and stuff like that. One is call Createx and one is wicked. There both made by the same company, but wicked is a lil nicer and new, it can paint fabric and metal too, it's an all around better paint, cuz the Createx has to be heat set for f

Createx has to be heat set, after you paint you need to hit it with a hair dryer or heat gun. But you don't have too heat set the wicked after.. You can find the stuff at most hobby/art supply stores. And what's good is,,, the thing about heat seting is, if I paint a tee, you can only wash it, you can't use the dryer cuz it's too hot, so this paint dose great in the cool/cold weather. Just get a cheap airbrush at the hobby/art supply and the 5 basic colors and you could mix up any color! You want! Wicked also makes some crazy colors too, metalics, colors that flip to another color. If you slowly build up the color,instead of dusching the paint on, it should hold/stick just fine.

Just to let you know Createx is the name of the company, they make "auto air" metal only stuff, "Createx" just for fabric/material, "wicked" fabric and metal!! I don't want you to order it online then get the Createx auto air. I would just get the wicked IMO

They sell some cheap airbrushs that you could use, and since your not doing any fine detail they would work just fine. It's when you really try detailed things they clog up but what your doing you could just full trigger and won't have to worry about clogs. I use Iwata guns, there kinda pricey. Lately iv been playing around with a few photo color/changing phone apps. Seeing what color I could cange my boots.

i have a spray gun you hook up to a compressor at my shop i use to paint cars... i guess that could work

There's easy tricks like woodgrain and marble FX. super quick and easy to do. I was thinking about woodgrain on the tops of my skis!

If you played around with the PSI's and and the fan spray you could get it to work, it would be really thinn for an HVLP gun but it would work. You can clear coat it with spray paint clear or any clear just as long as it's dry/cured. And what's great about the Createx n wicked it's waterbase paint, so you could spry it right inside your house.
