FS: Alienbees b400, yellow

Just got a killer deal on an Einstein, and need this gone to make space on my strobe shelf. Asking $190 shipped in the con-us. It's in very good condition, besides 3 small cracks stemming from the front corners on the casing. They are hairline splits and I only now just noticed them. They have no effect on the function of the strobe, and i've circled one in the pictures below (the worst one) just to disclose this info.

Model: Alienbees B400, Yellow
Included: Monolight, flash tube, 100w modeling lamp, shipping cover, a/c cord, sync cord, 7" reflector
Condition: 8/10, for the three small cracks I discovered. If you want, you can ship it to P.C.Buff and for $25 they'll replace the casing to any color you want.
Shipping: USPS priority, included w/ asking price. ConUS only please.

Would get this in a month or three when I've moved to the states. You probably don't want to wait that long though. Have you ever shot it in combination with a Vagabond perhaps?

Ok, how do you like it? How many pops you can do at full power? Also: how big and burly is the Vagabond II? Pain to lug around? Had a chance to play with the mini? I'm thinking of getting a more powerful strobe setup, possibly AB+Vagabond mini. The Vaga II is 16 pounds whereas the mini is only 3.5. Does the Vaga II hold many more charges?

I like it a lot, minus the fact that my case is wearing down and the strap keeps popping out when i carry it. It is heavy, and I wish I had the convenience of a Mini where i could fit it in my backpack. However, even with a used unit I think I get more pops than the mini. In fact, I haven't had a shot yet where i've fully drained mine. But that was with a single b400 at full power, and only shot maybe 200 @ full power. I do like the weight when I use it to sandbag my stand though, so I guess in the end, the weight is worth it.

I'd say get a b800 or einstein. The 400 is not powerful enough (from what I found) and the 1600 doesnt have the best duration.

Does the 1600, at an equivalent power, not have as fast a duration as the 400 or 800 at full? Same for the 800.

Did that make sense?

for the ABX00 series, their fastest duration is at full power and gets slower as the pops get less and less powerful

Really? Is it the same with the Einstein? I always figured all flashes were like speedlights and got faster as they got less powerful.

Einstein is slowest at full power (640w @ 1/588th) and gets FASTER (~1/2000th @ 320w, 1/1200th @ 480w, and in sports mode like 1/13000th @ 64w)

Every studio strobe setup is different. It fucking sucks. Even within a brand some get slower as you power down, some get faster.

Einsteins and speedlights use something called IGBT. Basically what it does is make a connection between the power source and the lamp. Only a certain amount of energy can flow through that connection. When it's reached the desired output, the connection is broken. That's why the lower the ouput, the slower the flash duration.
Traditional strobes use a system where they save up the charge and release it all in one go, that's why they're fastest.
