For those who really live unconcerned about what's going on in the world, Mr Hollande has become France's new president. As a French citizen, I believe it is a real good thing that Sarkozy has left !
I'm still really up in the air about him. Like all politicians, it remains to be seen how true to his word he is but for now its too early to pass judgement.
With that said, I do like how clearly defined politics in France are. There is a very obvious left and right. In the US things seem too mixed so that nothing ever really changes.
My grandmother recently just got back from a trip to France because that is were all my relatives are located and she said that since he has come into power France has become very divided one side is for the other being opposed and Its pretty noticeable. I myself know very little on the subject but that's what she was telling me.
I think its great he was elected. Its pretty obvious that the anti-spending austerity mindset that the U.S. loves to talk about doesnt work. (and most smart economists already new that.) I hope that France can now show us the way to a more quicker and efficient form of recovery. a.k.a. invest in shit and raise taxes.
