I'm pretty sure his karma grew so much because of how fast the "Post your latest purchase" thread has been growing. And I believe the creator of thread receives karma based on how long it is.

I could be wrong, but I think thats what happened.

You guys do realize that if it was member voted and submitted there would also be huge arguments? Nobody ever can completely agree on who is supposed to fill a spot like this.

Besides, I actually think that this guy was doing pretty well right up until his ban.

So sure... you could debate whether a person who is currently banned should have a chance at MOTM. But you can't say that this guy didn't contribute.

His Karma Xchange rating was going up quite a bit, as well as lots of his threads getting activity.

The concept isn't flawed, but the calculation of Karma needs to be tweaked to be more relevant.

-bwalmer (prev. flashkick101) for his gear talk help over the fall/winter
-RNSphotography is a newer member, but had like, 4 or 5 top rated photos in the last month.

If orange names qualified:
-Akrieg for his video work and decent contributions in the forums
-TWoods for his awesome photo work (his name is in the top rated of the month too many times to count)

I don't get into ski gabber and gear talk as much over the summer, but i bet there are some great contributors that I missed.

I have a curious question, in why we can't have a member nominated MOTM that was handled by a mod or two or three? Where you could write up a legit bio/interview and not just take stuff from their profile? I think it would be rad to have a blog style MOTM where you could read actual info about the person. It interacts the members of the site, and gives more pride/strive to actually get the spot.
