What region has the best pizza?

Recently me and a few of my buddies have been getting into heated disputes of what "style" of pizza is best, and from where it comes. NY, CHI, California, Italy, etc ....


I've never actually had pizza from Italy, I've only heard that it's the best.

My personal favorite is Chicago style deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's. Nothing can beat that crust!

False. Considering I already stated 2 other simple pizzas that I really love.

"California Pizzas" are less grease more flavors. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Sure things are great simple. But when you put together specific ingredients you can make something really delicious. I love mexican food, so mexican pizza is a step in the right direction for me. There are "New York" pizzas with just as many ingredients, they are just things like bell peppers, tomatoes, and 3 types of pig.

I have only been to one place in Maine with good pizza (forget the name, its from an Italian restaurant in Brunswick). But for the love of god everywhere else blows cock, the most disgusting pizzas I have ever eaten in my life. Pretty much unbearable to eat. And that says alot, because you always eat a pizza no matter how low quality it is.

I know this sounds like bullshit, ut I'm saying that I like PNW pizza the best. Thin crust like NY, but not that greasy and covered in delicious toppings like artichoke and feta

I've always had good pizza in Montreal and there's also good pizza in Ottawa. I've lived in Southern Ontario before and the pizza was a total let down, I looked everywhere for some good pizza but was left empty handed..

La Festa in Dover, NH is the best pizza I have ever had, and I like only 15 minutes away. They make a buffalo pizza with no sauce, just cheese, chicken, ranch, and hot sauce and it is the tits. They have wicked good cinnamon knots too. Oh an their pizza is definitely NY style really thin crispy crust

I didn't really enjoy it THAT much, my dad raves about and ordered their clam pizza, but i donno. Maybe I need a second trip there!

NY, although I have had Italian style pizza at a local restaurant and it comes close to the NY one, so Id imagine it is better in Italy

theres no doubt that getting funky with your pizza can be pretty delicous...but when it comes to PIZZA, nothing can beat ny. As someone posted, the farther weset you go the worse the pizza gets. So true. Pizza should be determined not by the topping that is on it, but rather how the cheese, crust, sauce is. From there you can put whatever the fuck you want on it. The bottom line is, pizza: cheese, sauce crust, is what makes a good ass pizza. Chicago has its place but still cant beat ny.

new york/new haven style for the win. whenever i go down to new haven to visit relatives we always order Ernie's pizza. anyone who lives in the general vicinity of new haven has to try it. so good

Pizza in the US seems to be totally different from in Italy. The crust is so much thicker and softer. I didn't really know about Chicago style pizza until I saw it on Man vs Food!

In Italy the crust is far thinner, and cooked in a super hot oven so that it gets crisp and blisters. Not many toppings are used either. This is the best pizza I've had. Just cured ham, rocket and mozarella on a really thin crust. (Of course it helped that it was consumed with beer, and in the mountains!)

i am lucky enough to be half italian, half of my family still lives in Italy and i get to go see them about once a year, this place in Bologna, Italy has the best pizza i have ever eaten and ive eaten pizza from all the regions of Italy and most of the US, if you are ever in Bologna, make sure you go get some.

I gotta agree east coast holds it down for best pizza, I've had some real good pizza in Boston but there's this pizza place/bar in my home town called the east side and they have the best pizza I've ever had. (it's in Pittsfield, MA btw)

have you ever tried old forge pizza? dont judge a book by its cover. its so light and fluffy and the cheese is so melty and gooey and almost has a somewhat sweet flavor. here in NEPA we tend to rep our old forge pizza rather heavily. I've had new york/ new haven style pizza, its very delicious. but we are seriously comparing apples and oranges here. that would be like saying whats better a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a philly cheese steak? they are both sandwichs, but totally different categories.

also you dont have to be a dick no one will think more highly of you for being obnoxious.

like what? Red's Savoy is the best place around here I've eaten at, and this new place called Reno's just opened by me, which is super good. I don't have Carbone's often, but it's pretty good too. I've never had Davani's pizza before.

bastard! their sauce is killer, and when you get a chunk of tomato, mmmmm heaven.

I also realized that the best pizza should be cooked brick oven style. Nothing else is as good as a nice wood fired brick oven

Italy all day. This is pretty unlikely but has anyone here ever been to Lombardis Pizzeria in NYC? Super authentic Italian pizza as well as the first pizzeria in America. If anyone is in New York City and need to gain a few pounds check them out

I love all pizza, but Chicago deep dish is truly incredible, one of a kind pizza. wouldn't eat it all the time if i lived in the area cause it's just massive and so solid and filling, but there's really nothing like it and it's so damn good. I went to Giordanos the time I was there and it was fuckin incredible.

with that said, ny style pizza is awesome. that doesn't mean that you can only get it in ny, though. it's definitely awesome there, but you can find real good similar-style pizza all over the country.
anyone who thinks pizza hut, dominos, papa murphys, etc is good is a goddamn fool. I guarantee any town anywhere has a better local shop than those chains. i've had pizza hut once and it was easily the worst pizza i've ever had.

Alright NYC NS'ers (and those that know the best places to get a pie):

I'm in NYC the 3rd-5th of July, alone. Have a couple things planned but would love to get slices at all the best places and see where the true gem of NYC/any style pizza lays. Lets make a list!
