What region has the best pizza?

Recently me and a few of my buddies have been getting into heated disputes of what "style" of pizza is best, and from where it comes. NY, CHI, California, Italy, etc ....


I've never actually had pizza from Italy, I've only heard that it's the best.

My personal favorite is Chicago style deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati's. Nothing can beat that crust!

New England as a whole has really good pizza, especially Boston(Pizzeria Reginas), The Matterhorn-Maine and all of NYC iirc

YES, and agreed with the NE/NY areas

Ricetta's in Falmouth, ME (and formally SoPo, ME)
Papa Gino's usually stinks, but I've had some GREAT slices on occasion. When its good, its great, when its not, ehh.

Thinner crust pizza in general is bombassdankass, with a nice crust and thin under-pie, can't go wrong.

I like pizza. It is delicious. I think it would be hard to figure out where the "Best" pizza is. All subjective really.

It depends on the mood, I occasionally love a nice deep dish pizza, something when i'm feeling earthy a nice flatcrust wood oven pizza is delsih, other times when im feeling italian a classic magherita pizza is where its at.

10e for a huge pizza and a liter of beer! Can't go wrong with that in the after hours.

Also notice the Rovio offices right next door, of Angry Birds fame... Coincidence? I think not.

the further west you go the worse the pizza gets. im from the northeast and like NY style, worked in a greek pizzaria in HS, moved westward and got more and more disappointed. lived in CO and everyone there raived about high mountain pies...place sucks cock. pizza was shit pizza but they put all kinds of shit on it to trick stoned kids into thiking it was really good pizza. but it wasnt. moved around, had pizza in UT, CA, OR & washington and it was all the same...gross. live in AZ now and went to a place in tempe that claimed "NY Style pizza!" bullshit. yeah right, get real. shit was too thick, sauce was ketchup. up in scottsdale got a place called streets of new york. they need to remove new york from their title. their NY style is a hard thin crust. horrible.

i bartend at a golf club and had to ask one of the jersey transplants with mafia ties where to get real Sicilian NY style pizza. dude hooked it up. find a crusty old italian/ny/jersey transplant, theyll let you know whats up. thats my pizza advice.

it actually originated from new haven, CT. its a thin crust pizza with about a .5" crust, usually spread with a little bit of olive oil before the sauce goes on. it also has a lot more cheese than most other styles and the sauce has a tiny bit more water in it so it spreads thinner. the crust is characteristically very thin and soft under the sauce, while flakier and crisper at the crust.

i had never seen pizza folded in half until i moved to the east coast. that shit blew my mind. i'm pretty sure that only the east coast folds their pizza like that. i know that no one does in the midwest, that's for sure.

i don't know that i can pick a best region for pizza because different kinds of pizza are fucking awesome...just depends on what I'm in the mood for. however, if i had to pick, i'd pick quad cities style pizza, i.e. harris pizza and all of the spin offs. i guarantee that you have never heard of it (i'm sooo hip), but i've never seen pizza like it anywhere else in the US. it's sliced in strips as opposed to traditional slices....harris (style) pizza is the motha' fuckin' bomb, yo.

I've had Italian Pizza, NY Pizza, California Pizza, Chicago Pizza, and pizza from god knows how many other places.

I'd say my favorite chain pizza comes from Zpizza which is an orange county establishment. But seriously. New York Style pizza with Tomatoes and Basil is delicious. I like it when the slices are so huge that you have to fold them so as to be able to eat it.

Overall though, Thick crust with Jalapenos and Pineapples will make me happy wherever it's from.


Italian pizza isn't really pizza as we think of it. It's more like a pita that you cut with a knife and a fork. Like a margarita pizza that isn't pre cut and is smallish. I make them pretty often. You can make the crust super easy. 1 part shortening to 2 parts flower with a bit of salt.

On a side note... I forgot the name of the place, but there is this place in Pasadena that makes 3ft by 3ft pizzas. AMAZING!

Oh, and California doesn't have it's own "style" of pizza. we just use the same type of crust as NY but the pizzas are normal sized and we have way crazier toppings.

My favorite Pizza from Zpizza is the Mexican, "salsa, mozzarella, spicy lime chicken, green onions, red onions, fresh avocado, sour cream, cilantro"

but the thai pizza is a close second, "peanut sauce, mozzarella, spicy chicken, red onions, cilantro, carrots, bean sprouts, serrano chilies"

my bro stayed in italy for 2 months last summer. Mostly of what he had to eat over there was their pizza and he said it was pretty good, they just use a shit ton of sauce
