Question for you profesional photogs

I'm currently getting pretty deep with a contract with StokedSkateboards for graphic/web design. Wheel graphics, deck graphics, web banenrs stuff like that.

Anyways, they want to get some photos of models with their product, and what not. I don't have to many details, but i do know they want something of that sort done. Instead of hiring someone to do this, i was thinking "well i'll barrow my friends DSLR, and pay a couple of my friends to model and what not" everything would be under contract.


But, what should i charge for this? I know nothing of photographer rates and stuff like that.

It comes down to how much time you think you'll have to commit to doing this. You gotta have a flat fee that encompasses everything; time, transport, equipment, models, editing, etc. I don't do photos, but if I had to pull a number out of my ass I'd say you could probably charge them between $800 and $1000 for the set, from shooting to editing through revision to final product.

My friend Matt Stauble had a pretty good set up when it came to pricing shoots. He'd have the first half paid up front as a down payment and the second half paid when he delivered the final product. Granted he had tons of references so people were fine with that because it sounds pretty trusting to me. But it worked well for him.
