Chinese made brands typically do not have the durability and the performance of European and some American and Canadian boutique made skis. There are definitely exceptions, and case by case instances, but generally the quality out of China is not quite up to what all the other guys may be doing. China is improving, but another aspect that you have to take a look at is manufacturing materials. Cores, sidewalls, bases, manufacturing techniques, etc, all come into play when considering things such as durability and performance. I don't want to single out any companies for the good or bad, but if you are looking for a long lasting ski that performs better, European is the way to go. If you are looking to get a cheaper ski to progress on or that is all you can afford (we are all poor ski bums that may or may not have rich white kid backgrounds) Chinese skis are definitely an awesome option.
