I am making some skis for my senior project and was wondering in your oponion what is the best core to use for an all mountain ski.

K2 has metal, aspen, bamboo, and paulownia in their sidestash, my favorite ski that i unfortunately don't own.

straight bamboo cores feel super strange to me. i've skied liberty and on3p sticks with bamboo and am not a fan.

Idk but I feel like it would be it would be really hard to make boards out of bamboo. Just use the same kind of core from your favorite skis

I finished making a pair of skis this year, you should use a poplar strip layup, or you can put some thinner ashe strips in if you want the skis to be stiffer/maybe a little stronger. Are you gonna use sidewall?

Then I would go with poplar if you want a really light ski, make sure you don't cut it to thin though because its not as strong, but a lot lighter than ash, but if you want a light ski but are a little bit worried about durability, for example: if you want a park ski I would go with poplar with one or two strips of 1/4 inch ashe down the middle and one more on each of the edges for strength. Hope this is helpful, making you own skis is probably one the most rewarding experiences, ever!
