dont fuck about, just get a Jack Russell Terrier. They kill all forms of vermin will run for miles and are loyal as hell. They need a serious amount of exercise though.
Well it's true small breeds may be harder to train, they are some of the smartest dogs around. I have two small chihuahua's (got them when I lived in an smaller apartment) that are eaisly the most well behaved dogs I've ever met. They walk without leashes, know over 10 verbal commands/signs, and are all around loving dogs. I ever litter box trained the tiny one b/c she's to small to go outside in the winter.
But you need to make sure the breed you pick is the right one for you, look it up first, way too many dogs are abandoned every year.
