Best and Worst Smells and Scents

Ah, the summer is here. Great smells and scents floating in the air all around us. But with the heat also the worst stanks rise to the surface and tickle your nasal cavities the wrong way.

My favorite scent, as I once again noticed, is the smell of freshly cut grass, it's very endearing. A close second would be the fresh scent of a mixed forest just after a swift summer rainstorm.

The worst smell I can think of is rotten fish. When I was younger we thought it would be fun to stick some coarse fish or fish entrails into a hollow pipe at the edge of the pier and close it with a makeshift lid. After about three months of baking under one of the hottest summer suns in recent memory, we decided to check out how the fish were holding up. I still have nightmares about that stench. A runner-up would be the now-moldy wool socks that had been jammed at the bottom of my backpack for nearly two weeks in the army.


So what are your favorite and not-so-favorite smells? It could be anything - dandelions, your childhood home, your balls or vagoo, anything. Just choose the best and worst with runner-ups if you must!

- Girls (hair)
- Girls sweat can be VERY nice/arousing
- The sea (I can't believe how no one has said this yet!)
- My own farts
- My mum
- Hairgel
- Sunscreen
- Baby-oil


Worst:
- Rain hitting hot pavement. So disgusting.
- Rotten food
- Mens sweat

About the burning cat poo:

If was at a party, everything was chill BBQ, etc..
A couple of hours later everyone was drunk and one person decided to empty the kitty litter box on the BBQ, what followed was the worst stench ever.

I mean ever, seriously people fainted and puked everywhere invoking even more puking until it became a puke fest.
If Germany had this technology to their disposal in WOII we would all be speaking German a.t.m.


Then they dared one guy to smear it on his face for 300 euros, and so he did.
According to the legends despite a zillion baths he still smelled horrible.
He did a facial peel just to get rid of the stench.




Seriously never set fire to cat poop, it may be the last thing you will ever do.

Worst thing I have ever smelled hands down was a perirectal abscess filled with blood, pus, and necrotic tissue, that spontaneously drained when the dude started shitting on himself. Oh, did I mention the smell made him throw up? The smell of shit, vomit, pus, blood, and dead tissue will forever be burned into my memory.

As for best smells...camp fires, the smell of exhaust and fuel at the marina in the summer, and pretty much all good food when I'm hungry.

1. The smell of Muskoka and home. Always magical to come back to after being in a city.

WORST

1. Diapers. I had to clean up the garbages after closing the provincial park I work at, and diapers had spilled everywhere. Near vomit experience.

Just today I walked through a football field where some young thugs had gone crazy, breaking stuff all over and dumping a dumpster from a nearby children's park over the field... Shitty diapers baking in the sun everywhere, Jesus fuck the smell...

Best Smells: Sunscreen, fresh apples, cantaloupe, mint, wet earth, basil, rhubarb, and peaches

Bad Smells: Smoking, stale beer,exhaust, overripe fruit, the guy that can't manage to wear deodorant, and a car after it hasn't been cleaned the entire summer

Worst: rotting worm

In 3rd grade we caught a couple frogs and put them in an aquarium in our class. We went out to catch some bugs to feed them and I stumbled across a worm which I thought they could fancy. I put it in an airtight jelly jar (3rd grade logic) and set it next to the aquarium. Sure enough, I forgot all about it, and after the weekend was over and we got back to the class, there was a rotting worm in an airtight jar. It was my jar so I took it upon myself to clean my mess up, brought it down to the bathroom and when I opened it, the most foul, nasal-cavity-numbing smell was exuded and I nearly yakked like crazy. To this day I am extremely sensitive to this smell, which I often get a whiff of when I go outside after it rains and the worm come out to die on the pavement. Fuck my life.

Best:
Febreeze detergent. I use it to wash my ski gear, and it always smells so good when I put on a baselayer and it smells super fresh. Reminds me of ski season every time.
Cigarette smoke. I hate to admit it, but I actually really love the smell of a lit cigarette. Don't smoke, never have, but man do they smell good.
Bacon. Pretty self-explanitory

Your crazy, I love the smell of fresh asphalt. I work in a testing lab so there constantly burning asphalt, fucking love it.

My favourite smell is evergreen trees in the winter, sooooo good. Worst is anything to do with rotting fish,

this "dumpster room" at the waste water treatment plant that was just like a dumpster that just got filled with the solid shit that didnt break down and sat there for god knows how long. Easily the worst thing i have ever smelled by a along shot

i love smelling a freshly opened bag of salt and vinegar chips. you get that huge hit of vinegar that you can feel in your jaw as it makes you grit your teeth cause it's so strong..

You know how some people smell bad to you and some smell good? Well, one of my favorite smells is a guy who smells good to me after they've worked out and they're all sweaty. Mmmm. If the guy smells gross I want to vomit. Cruel world really.

The weirdest thing happened to me, I smelt a candle at a friends house that was like beach themed or something, and it smelt soo good. Like too good. Like i wanted to do certain things after smelling it, if you pick up what i'm layin' down. I wanted to steal that candle.

Bad smells, um. I cannot, CANNOT stand smelling other peoples burps. For some reason it kills me. Farts I don't mind too much, but burp near enough that i smell it and you're dead.
