Its interesting to see how fame can get to some people's head. I respect all people until they give me reason not to respect them. I'm not sure what you guys are basing your judgements on, but I'm not basing mine on anyone's style or skiing ability. I base whether or not I like pros based on how they respond to fame. Does their ego get inflated or do they remain humbe? I think Tom Wallisch is a great example of someone who skis because they love to ski. Fame doesn't seem to have gotten to his head or ego in anyway. I'm pretty sure the Tom Wallisch you guys all know of was the same Tom Wallisch before he got famous.
One person I really fucking hate and have no respect for his Simon Dumont. By the way he acts at competitions and public events, you can tell he has lost his love for skiing and is in it for the image. He has let the ego pro-skiing has given him get to his head. He is a cocky fuck who complains. I don't like him, I think he's got a horrible attitude and mentality, and is a shitty rolemodel for younger kids. In any pursuit you choose, you should strive for humility and staying true to yourself. That is what integrity is. It is remaining the same person in any circumstance. By observing Simon over the years, I think he has fallen to his own ego. I can't stand the fucking guy and I can't even watch any of his movie segments.
Another person, who I'd like to elect for biggest douche in the universe is Will Berman. As I said, I respect everyone until they give me reason not to respect them. This past season at Breck, Will was up there. I was in front of him at some point and slowed down. He zoomed passed me cussing and screaming at me. It was a desperate outcry for attention. Dude, I really don't care how cool you think you are. You're a douchebag. What's even funnier about him is that he thinks he is such a bad ass. Cool dude, nice tall tee and face mask, you must be from Compton. Oh wait, yeah your from Cherry Creek. Nothing against tall tees or facemasks, but its like Berman actually thinks hes ghetto. In the words of Outkast, "Dont get caught up in appearance." He is another person whose let the ego get to his head. I think he has got great style, but I refuse to watch him any more after that. He doesn't have humility and doesn't know how to treat people respectfully and I absolutely hate people like that.
I think that's a big problem on the ski hill and in our generation in general. We all get caught up in the act of appearance and forgot how to treat people decently and respectfully. Freeskiing should be about community and having a great time regardless of your ability level. But when douchebags like Will Berman come through yelling at you for no reason, it really makes you question what the fucks wrong with people. For some reason when someone is better at you then something, sometimes they feel they have the right to treat you as a lesser being which I find really hilarious.
im interested as to why? Toms such a chilled out funny guy.
