New Editing Style

i actually enjoyed it, the worst was the last couple shots where it was so bright there was no contrast in the snow, don't know if thats a white balancing issue or what, other than that i liked the map effects you added.

i think more than anything you juts need to keep it mroe simple, if you have multiple angles of shots, just put them in as a separate shot, you dont need to put in a box with it in. and just transitions and stuff, like the road map was cool once but it just got annoying to be honest. other than that i thought it was ok.

It was accually pretty good. I didn't really like all of the transitions and those picture in picture things.. Your COD editing def shows too, but it wasnt bad! You definatley have some potential man!

It was surprisingly fun to watch. Most people's first edits (and most gopro edits in general) aren't very good at all, but yours was really enjoyable. Even though it would be better, like Jibba said, to keep things more simple, you were creative and tried something different. I liked that you told a story. Your lifestyle shots added to the video (as opposed to detracting from it).

Overall I think you have a lot of potential. You're coming at editing from a different background and that's pretty cool. My recommendation is to go watch all the top rated/professional edits that you can and figure out things they do that you like. It can be little things, like coloring, filming angles, transitions, rider framing, etc; find those things and try to incorporate them into your style and make them your own. These techniques can usually be considered "successful" so once you've picked and chosen and integrated the ones you like, you can start innovating and trying new things based on them.

^This and you need a lot more tricks in it...otherwise it gets boring to watch pretty fast.

it definitely shows that you have editing talent, you are just not sure where to take when dealing with ski footy..those colored boxes with alternate angles were atrocious, but its a learning experience and focus on keeping it more simple in your next edit! good job!

Thanks for all the poditive feedback guys I really appreciate it :) the more I see here the more i realize that I have a lot to learn, that it's completely different from the work I've previously done. Other than camera work (I know I new to improve my skills here majorly) what do you guys think is the area that I need to improve the most? work on my transitions? I seen one comment that said they were amateur? How so? I would like to know specifically, maybe pick one apart, tell me where I went wrong, why is it amateur? I realize that this is a completely different discipline of editing from what I'm used to, but I'm determined to learn. Plus ive come to realize that it's easier to figure out a style by learning one thing at a time, starting with your weakest link :) Thanks for all the feedback -Flame

I actually like a lot of your transitions (like the one at 0:30, it's sick!) but try to cut to the beat so you get the feeling that the song just fits perfectly (-> https://vimeo.com/41378941 ). The worst one in my opinion is at 1:01...the colors make it look unprofessional and it's just a bit too much. The areas you can easily improve your editing skills are probably to show more tricks and to keep it simple.
