Jon Olsson & Top Gear

So, I have been indulging in Season 18 all day today and it dawned on me, why has Jon Olsson not been on Top Gear yet?

He is famous enough, and has more than enough car credibility.

I dont know if he's well known enough to be on Top Gear. That would be dank though, i'd love to see were he ends up on the lap board.

I've never been able to tell if jon is a good driver who drives too hard or just a terrible driver. it seems he destroys the transmission or something else on his cars. but man does he have a great taste in cars, i loved them all.

In regards to being on TG I kinda doubt it, it seems everyone on there nowadays is just a tv/movie star. I can only think of one athlete they have ever had on, that lady who sailed around the world

He's not that well known. The people that they have on are mostly british. If they aren't British, they are either really famous football players, or really famous american actors.

I would be pretty surprised if the show didn't have a page or a forum for fans telling them what they want to see. I'm too lazy to look and honestly don't care that much, it would just be cool to see Jon Olsson on Top Gear.

On his blog a week or two ago he said he had a meeting and photoshoot with Top Gear for a cover story.

"Slept for an hour before we met up with Top Gear for a cover story shoot."

they mentioned him in an article in the magazine a while ago. i doubt he'd be on star in a reasonably priced car, but he could always be in a feature, like when they go race someone or something

You would think he is well known enough in his car escapades that many gear heads know who he is. He's consistently featured on the car blog Jalopnik which is hugely popular, that would be amazing to watch him on an episode of tg

... People do understand how being a guest on this show works? 9 times out of 10 its a publicity appearance for something else, movie, tv show, book, etc. Its not like they just invite random people to come, its a publicity thing.

They did invite Jay Kay back once, because Simon Cowell was on top of the leaderboard of the 2nd car and they didn't like that.

Some invites are genuine, but most indeed are like: "You have a new movie coming up, let's show a trailer. AWESOME"

It would be awesome, but probably wont happen. Maybe they could take a look at his r8, because it's actually somewhat famous, and they featured it in the magazine.

I'd like to see him and the r8 on the DRIVE-network. That is an actual possibility.

He's not famous really though is he, come on - not in the grand scheme of things... As a ski racer - he's no Bode Miller/Lindsey Vonn in the recognition stakes, and as a car person - well, there are a million playboy rich kids out there with supercars. If he was a British Ski Racer, who'd been to the olympics etc then maybe (they have that bias obviously).

Bear in Mind Top gear has the largest global audience of any TV program ever... Tom Wallisch has more chance than jon Olsson.

Just being realistic.

Usain bolt was in the show like 5 years ago. It was two Olympics ago. Or at least i dont remember seeing him anytime lately just thought it was only after the he won two Olympics ago. The only way I could see Jon being in it would be if they raced him in a car while he was doing a jump line or something like that

id say hes a pretty good driver who drives rather hard, a lot. in some of his earlier (i dont know about lately, i havent watched/read recently) video blogs he used to post track day videos and talk a lot about his ultima gtr.

that being said, most of the cars he buys arent meant to be driven nearly as much as he does.

http://jalopnik.com/5559767/i-sold-everything-to-buy-a-lamborghini-and-drive-across-the-country back in 2010 over 100 000 miles on it, before that, one of the highest milages seen on a lamborghini for sale on ebay motors was about 38000, yet most arent driven/accumulate much more than 10000 miles

that being said, he definitely drives them hard, and the reason he always seems to be running into issues isnt necessarily him driving TOO hard, but that he has driven hard for so long.


it would be awesome to see jon on top gear, either as a siorpc, or some sort of challenge/feature with his r8 or one of his other cars
