So my dad said he would buy me a lens for my birthday and have been looking at the tamron 18-270 and the canon 70-200 but I realized it didn't have image stabalizer. So recommend me a lens from the $500-$750 price range.

ur probably gonna want the 750 dollar one because from what ive heard if it has a bigger number it zooms farther. make sure it has optical zoom tho because digital zoom is no good

70-200 is a solid lens. 18-270 sounds awful. usually the larger the range the less quality of the lens. Id stay away from wide to tele lenses...

if you have like $600 to spend on a lens I wouldn't touch an 18-270 or anything like that, get something better. do you really think IS is necessary for what you do? if you're shooting mainly skiing you usually won't need it for taking photos since it's usually bright enough to crank up your shutter.
