I am also on a forum called kanyetothe.com, and they have a notifications system for when someone quotes you in a thread etc... I was just thinking maybe this would go well on NS, it could pop up when your sale thread gets bumped, when you get quoted, all that. Just an idea.
I can't see why anyone is actually against the idea of getting a simple notification if someone quoted you, or commented on your pic or video. For media, you don't often go back and check, so it would be very useful. For quotes, well, you'd know that something was directed at you. Would get handy when creeping in multi-page threads.
thank you, its not anything like Facebook, its more about convenience, then you don't have to go throughout all your threads and look, you would just know. Once you've been on forums that have it it just seem soo much nicer.
The general consensus was that it would be useful to get notifications internally, such as on photos, videos, blogs, feedback, etc.
And to avoid having notifications where they would be in mass, such as when someone replies to threads, or replies to you within threads. It would be too many.
So I do see in the future of NS a notification system that isn't over-bearing.
The over-bearingness could be "easily" (not saying it would be simple to just add to the NS backend) modified with a simple control box to adjust the settings. Don't want notifications from quotes? Tick box off etc.
Easier said than done, of course, especially for a free website.
Its been thought of, but considering there is currently no functionality built into the system its a major undertaking to add it. There is a massive list of summer projects we'll be ticking off, we'll see if this makes the cut
You know, I vote yes. It's something that could change the way people use NS, and definitely for the better. It's time to catch up to 2012 and stop living in 2004, folks.
that's a great list to go by seeing as how 1/2 of the good ideas in SD have zero feedback from mods and the the other 1/2, you guys say would take too much work to implement. So my question still stands... what is actually being considered? What potential goals for improvement are being considered? What's in store for Newschoolers 2012 - 2013?
