So im having a really hard time picking out my first pair of park skis. This will be my second year and i really want to get into everything in the park. I want a little buttery ski but something with durability that will last me atleast two seasons. Preferably under $350. So far i have found the armada el reys and the atomic panics. Any other choices?

if your just getting into park and you want a light ski for cheap, the line mastermind should be good. There a really good beginner park ski and do pretty good out of the park to. They are very light so you can learn new tricks on them easily. They are also cheap but im not sure about the durability on them

Durability can be sub par sometimes but they're loads of fun to learn on. Last I checked evo.com had this year's for like $200

Thanks dude. Thats the site i will most likely buy off of. I just dont know if i want to trust a site selling skis for that cheap. What about the Panics? Im afraid of the El reys being to stiff and not having much pop for the park. The Panics only have a size 165. Do you think that would fine for me?( Im about 5"10 140 and im growing)

eehhh if you are a more beginner than the saloman threats on Backcountry.com and if they break you can send them in for a free pair. thats my pick for a fairly new skier

If you're 5'10" you'll probably wanna go a bit higher than 165... Simply because you're gonna keep growing, and 165 would fit you now but not for much longer I presume. Also, at 140 lbs you might think about a slightly stiffer ski like the el Reyes, I'm 130 and buckled my super soft masterminds (but after a year of hard use!). Btw Evo is excellent. Don't be too suspicious of price, it's only because the season's in the process of ending. Happens every year. But stick with Evo, free shipping, and great customer service.

I have the masterminds...theyre a sweet first park ski theyre really flexy but they are in no way durable...lasted me a single season...

they just start to rip at the toe and they just get worse and worse...great ski...i love um but not durable

Well it also depends how hard your going in terms of durability. Obviously this isn't the ski for an aggressive park skier.

I'd say go with the El rey. Mainly cause your coming into park but your not a beginner skier. Your gonna want more versatility on a pair of skis then punx or mastermind. They are purely park skis. If that's what your looking for go for it. I'd say stay away from the mastermind cause it's know as buttery ski ,but wont last more than a season if your going hard.
 You'll end up paying more for the el rey or punx but its worth it. you pay for what you get.
Another park beginner ski is volkl ledge. I Heard its a little stiffer but a guy your size will make it butter. That and its volkl so it gonna last at least a season or two.

I'd say maybe wait till next year's gear and buy from backcountry.com . I buy from them for one reason only.
They guarantee every piece of gear for life, no question asked. Meaning if you go and buy those masterminds and they break cause you hit rail wrong, you can return them and get full refund or credit towards a new pair of skis.

Hold on. So your saying that once my skis break i can send them in and they will send me new ones? I could buy a non durable ski like the abangs and not have to worry about it?

I was really bored today so here's my chat with the return guy at backcountry.com

kal: Got refund question.  If I break a pair of skis in the park can I get a full refund?

Nate: We have an unlimited lifetime return policy, if you're comfortable returning a pair of skis that you broke then you can do so.

kal: does that apply to one refund per pair of skis bought? Like if I broke them, got a new pair refunded, but they broke A 2nd time, does the warranty become invalid?

Nate: That would be dealt with in the case that it actually happened.


So yeah lifetime return policy. If your breaking them multiple times there's gonna be issues.

Personally I don't buy from backcountry with the intent of breaking gear and I don't think its fair to the company who has an awesome Return policy like that.  I buy from backcountry because if SOMETHING breaks or goes bad I can get refunded cause I'm a poor Lifty.

But that gets into the whole personal ethics and morels thing. Not trying to start a shitstorm.

k2 press. great starter ski and pretty buttery. the tail isnt a full twin tip but it really doesnt matter, ive skied mine for 2 years, never noticed. the topsheets are pretty bombproof but the bases arent the best. a friend got the mastermind and after 1 1/2 years theyre almost done
