Yeah the layout really looks like it came from a time machine. Person running it obviously wasn't a great web builder. Still amazes me their still putting up shows now. There's even stuff from 2011 and probably even some from 2012. Ridiculous.


Pass that shit on to someone else. Free music is the best, especially live.


To the haters of live music, you're missing out. Album versions of a lot of songs just lack that energy that comes out in a great show. Then again, a lot of bands that are popular now suck live.

Yup. Plus for most shows they have a link to the dreamingtree.org download. Again, free site, signup takes a while sometimes because they have a limited number of spots so sometimes you have to try a few times till you catch a time when they have cut inactive accounts.

Or you can use the spreadsheet, not quite as well kept as the Phish one (sometimes missing a file), but still sweet. Just check against the etree source list, or the txt file included to make sure you arent missing something.

Might look for my tent and other shit and hit a fest tomorrow through sunday. Small fest 1k or less, I like the mellow ones though. Also super legit and only a half hour form my house. Considering last year before it the closest fest I'd been to was 2 or 3 hours.

You don't get that raw intensity and passion through an album like you do with live music. Then again most bands are garbage and can only make things sound decent for the album, and can't play shit live.

come on now man. you know what I'm talking about. with a lot of live music, either the recording sucks, or the production sucks. ya know...too much bass, or too much guitar...it doesn't have the balance. or the acoustics in the place aren't the greatest and the sound bounces all over the room and it sounds like crap. that's what i'm referring to.

There's these things called soundboard recording that get mixed pretty fucking nicely and come out great. No reason to hate live music just because people were filming everything on those shitty cellphones and cams to put on youtube for a while.


I feel like albums are almost fake in a way. Especially these days when everything's production, no talent, cookie cutter, built for radio and the now 372 cd.

Idk the acoustics in some places suck, some audience recordings suck, sometimes recordings are really unbalanced, sometimes the mix just sucks, but still there's plenty of great shit out there.

i totally agree about albums being fake in a way. everything is sooo produced and mixed so perfectly that it's nearly impossible to recreate in a live setting.

i certainly don't hate live music. i fucking love going to shows. however, when it comes to just listening to music on my ipod or whatever, i generally don't listen to much live shit. i'd rather have that perfectly mixed version rather than something that is meh in quality.

Nah I hear you. I think we probably listen to different stuff mostly too. That makes a big difference. Some shit I won't touch the live music. The albums are good, and the live shows are the same songs, the same structures but just not as clean, not as precise, and the recordings can be meh. Some bands when all I can find is live I'm like fuck that.


Mostly the jammy shit, classic, bluegrass, and some rock I love live. A lot of other stuff if I'm listening to it would rather here an album.

haha, i was just thinking about this a little more and was going to add that I do like listening to live versions of jammy shit. especially when a guitar player, bass player, or even the drummer just goes off on a fucking tangent for like 10 minutes....ya know, when you can tell that they're just feeling it and playing their heart out totally in the fucking zone. shit like that will send chills down my spine and you can't find that on a produced album.

however, shit like hip hop/rap/whatever often times sounds like complete ass. waaay too much bass and the rapper/whatever just screaming and yelling into the mic - sounds like dog shit.

so i guess i should revise my statement to be that not all live shit sucks, imo. just gotta find the right stuff.
