Problem: I have an iPhone 4 and a 500mb/month data limit. I never download apps or stream videos and I basically use my data to check weather/news/kijiji/gmail (never download big messages). IMO all of that should be pretty light on my data yet I'm at or above 500mb constantly. I see that there are apps to monitor how much data you are using but I am trying to find out what program specially is eating all my MBs. Any suggestions on how to find out? Anyone else getting there MB robbed?
youll have to go through all your settings then. something has to be running without you knowing. I dont remember what you said you have 4 or 4s. i dont even know if 4 does it, but double tap the home button. the running apps will pop up in a tool bar. hold one for 2 seconds then delete them all. i do it once or twice a day so things are running for no reason. who knows brah
A couple things. Location Services does not use data. You want to go through your semi-running apps (double-tap the home button) to close them. You could use the parental controls settings to ensure that you don't accidentally open an app that chews up data. Beyond that there's not much you can do. 500MB is not a lot of data. Frankly, you shouldn't be surprised at any usage level that you're going over.
just turn off cell data that way if you have to use the data it will ask you if you want to turn on cell data and you just press yes. then you can turn it off when your done. this way there is zero chance of your phone using data when it shouldnt
Thanks for the replys. I never use personal hotspot, always close all my apps. Still facked. Any app out there that tracks what is using each MB sent and received by the phone?
The one that's built into the iPhone is super inaccurate, in your contacts there should be something that says #DATA. If you call #DATA it will send you a text with an accurate data usage estimate. It will probably be a lot less then you think.
No. That will add up over time in your device storage, but it has nothing to do with data. Its good to clear them every once in a while, as well as your email trashes.
