The last NFL game that ended 0-0 was in 1943 between the Detroit Lions and New York Giants.

In 1942, the Army vs. Notre Dame football game finished in a 0-0 tie. To this day it still holds the record as the largest crowd to ever attend a college football game in the state of New York. (It was played at Yankee Stadium).

1939 UCLA vs USC 0-0 tie.

In 1925, the Chicago Bears battle the Chicago Cardinals to a 0-0 tie.

The Arizona Cardinals first regular season game ended in a 0-0 tie when they played the Chicago Bears on October 10, 1920.

football is all about the flash....rediculously in shape dudes who are arguably the best athletes on the planet. Huge hits. Touchdowns in football can rival soccer somewhat i guess. Football is kinda lik ea chess game more stop and go plays. Also nothing beats a huge comeback. Plus once you understand the game and realize how hard it is to play its awsome to watch sick plays come together into amazing yardage

There are a lot of subtle and nuanced elements to football that make it much more complex and cerebral than it appears at first glance. I don't think you can really appreciate the game unless you immerse yourself to a point where you are capable of watching the game and individual battles as opposed to just simply watching the ball.

One of the coolest parts of Football is the chess game that takes place between the opposing coaches and coordinators. Sometimes teams have mismatches, a common one in today's game would be a big, athletic, fast, hands TE matching up against a slower, smaller LB. From that mismatch, a domino effect takes place that is nothing less than compelling.

 It's the moves and countermoves (TE catching passes in the no-man's land between the 2nd and 3rd level, causing a safety to step up to assist in coverage, causing the TE to utilize a double move and get open over the top, etc.) that really sucks you in.

To the OP and all other sports fans who haven't embraced football but are willing to give the game a chance: watch a game with someone really knowledgeable. TIVO a game and take your time and really pay attention to the commentating. If you're a general sports fan, I almost guarantee you'll find something you like.

I'm from the UK and have spent the past two winters in Canada, granted I was into American football beforehand, but being out in North America, being able to watch the games at a reasonable hour, was amazing.

I absolutely love it, so much so that on my way out west to BC in November I detoured through north Florida to watch Florida v Florida State and Jags v Texans. (Flights were a bitch! Manchester - Orlando - Jacksonville - Atlanta - Seattle - Kelowna) I'm not a fan of any of these teams but it was unreal just to see some games live in the flesh in their homeland. (Been to most of the wembley games here in the UK, they're obviously great, but not the same as the real thing amongst home fans etc)

I'm lucky to have some great mates back home who are into it to and the people I lived with were into it as well (bar the girls, who celevbrated having sundays back after the superb owl) meaning that I always get a chance to watch it with friends, slating and abusing each others respective teams.
