MXE (Methoextamine) / Ketamine becoming a problem in your area?

also known as 2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino)-cyclohexanone or maybe on the streets known as K; Special K; Cat Tranquilizer. It's classified as a dissociative with psychedelic qualities. Does anybody in their area see an increasing number of people experimenting with it? Throughout the past couple of months a lot of my buddies have been using it pretty regularly. I've experimented with it a couple of different times along with the researched form which is mentioned in the next paragraph.

In my area at least, researched chemicals with the name MXE have been passing through and are said to be ketamine, lots of kids in this area are feeding into it and getting really strung out. I've seen a big increase in the kids doing it and the amount that's been getting ingested. taking One "key bump" of this researched chemical has an effect for 2-4 hours. Real K has an onset-offset of 45 minutes, and usually comes in a crystal form.

one key bump is the average dose of ketamine, for the unexperienced user anyway, and the fact that people are now ingesting a lot more powerful of a substance that they think is "real"k ketamine is dangerous. Not to mention the fact that the researched chemical MUST be cut with something because the dose alone is too strong.

End Rant. Curious to other peoples outlook/ opinion. NOT TRYING TO BRAG ABOUT DRUGS

It's been around for a while. I missed the big trend on it though. Huge with the kids of the last few years. Pretty big in the bisco scene. Mostly the younger crowd at shows/fests.


I don't see whats so great about it, but I never really got into it.

People are getting crazy though. I have friends that seem to end up doing calvin klines mom at every fest(lines of k, with coke, and mdma)

It's hard to say though. I was down to doing just psychedlics pretty quickly so who knows. I honestly would have prolly been bumping that shit all day if I hadn't made some changes. To each their own I guess.



Also, what does "becoming a problem" constitute?

Actually just remembered something. Some girl who I try to avoid now from high school days. Doesn't really hit shows anymore just does a fuck ton of drugs. She fucking IV's ketamine. It's some fucked up shit. And some of the other kids that hang out there/ her boyfriend have done the same. Probably the most ridiculous thing I can think of.

Fuck that shit, sketchy as fuck.

very good answer man as always. I can totally agree with you that it is indeed a big problem at CB because i saw it first hand myself, which is actually the first time i've experienced with it at all. But since the first time i've tried it up until now i've seen a big change in the way that it used to effect me and the way that it effects the people around me, generally speaking.

K is currently used as a veterinary and a human anesthetic. It's in the dissociative class meaning the mind is actually "seperated" from the body. In some cases, profound hallucinations and sensations are brought up in the separation of the mind/ body.

And as far as becoming a problem with ketamine, I gathered a list from the erowid vault on ketamine of the negative effects, this is just some.

NEGATIVE
(negative side effects increase with higher doses and frequent use)

Risk of psychological dependency
Nasal discomfort upon insufflation
Discomfort, pain or numbness at injection site (with IM)
Severe confusion, disorganised thinking
Paranoia and egocentrism (with regular use)
Nausea, vomiting
Frightening or untimely distortion or loss of sensory perception
Susceptibility to accidents (from uncoordination and change in perception of body and time)
Severe dissociation, depersonalisation
Loss of consciousness
Depression of heart rate and respiration (risk increases with increased dose or when combined with depressants)

KIDS ARE ALWAYS GOING TO USE DRUGS, ITS JUST SKETCHY THAT RESEARCHED CHEMICALS HAVE COME ABOUT SO HEAVILY IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. KNOW WHAT YOUR INGESTING

Dude shut the fuck up your so inexperienced it makes me cry. It's kids like you that would get fed bunk chemicals and wouldn't know the difference. Your going to live around it your whole life you may as well be experienced man.

The k hole is like the dragon.

Crazy at night when you're at the right(actually wrong) fest or show. Everyones walking around the lot/campground with no money trying to get into one last khole.



Also some of my friends that pretty much live off k tend to lose everything by the end of the night. One friend lost his wallet like 3 times. IT just seems kind of dumb when you need a fucking walking stick just to get to the show.

It's kind of funny to watch a bunch of kids roll down shakedown with the trex arms stumbling into shit.

At moe.down during set break one year I was sitting down in the crowd. Some dude was deep in a hole. Hadn't move for ever. All the sudden dude starts trying to walk and I see him stumbling toward me from behind. Dude was falling right on me. I push as he fell and sent him over me. Unfortunately he wrecked the people in front. IT was just a quick reaction, wasnt trying to fuck up their night, but I sure as hell didn't want to get crushed. Fucking wooks.

Ketamine is cool like once a year other than that I don't see the draw. But it's fun, no desire to return or go deeper. But still not bad. Some people spike it though when they exonerate serious users that's pretty sketch. But hey that's their journey so fuck it who am I to judge.

we actually did it today in mammalogy too, first time in a while. and when we don't give the squirrels special k we just swing them around and then stand in a tight circle and play squirrel chicken. if the squirrel runs after you after you let it out of the bag and you flinch than you're the bitch. it's fun.

Just watched this a few days ago. Seems to have a lot of different uses. Also there are some gnarly K junkies like one guy in this video, did like 40-50 injections up to 3-4 grams per day. He does like 5 in a row and k-holes and conks out on his bed, gnarly shit.
