My first edit!

Whatsup guys, I just started having fun and messing around with sony vegas and some random clips I have of some crashes. Yeah I know, it sucks pretty bad, thats why I'm posting it here to get some advice! I have been trying to add some effects, most of them pretty subtle though.
I know that many of the indoor videos are really lousy quality, most of these are filmed with a gopro (yes i know...). Most of these shots are filmed by friends, I usually end up skiing and forget about filming.

Long story short:
I made my first lousy edit, and am asking for some advice for filming, song choice, but mainly the editing, and also some tips for effects and whatever.

Okay, so no offense, but none of that footage warranted an "edit" ...aside from a bails edit. I don't think anyone landed a single trick.

Your two main focuses for improvement need to be getting better content (again, unless you're looking to make a fall edit) and shooting them better. Watch the top rated edits on here and see what they do with the camera that makes the video visually appealing. Its not too hard to have decent framing and movement in a shot, even with a POV cam.

Focus on editing later. Your content is what needs improvement now.

Yeah, sorry, I should have warned you that it is supposed to be a crash edit! So, you're right, there are no tricks landed in this video.

Blondie, thanks for the good advice, I completely agree with you! The only thing is that none of this is actually filmed by me, as all of the skiing is me.
That is mainly why I am asking about the editing, but I definitely can use some advice on filming aswell.

And Creu, haha it is me skiing in every shot.

Try getting shots from closer/better angles and maybe add some color correction

Mmmmm Tappie, my bad. I sensed that it was a bails edit but didn't want to assume.

In terms of editing: I like how you had some of the impacts on the downbeat of the song. That worked pretty well for you. I find that crash edits work best when you have fun with them. Cut shots short - people don't need to see what trick you were doing when the point of the shot is the fall. For example, make some quick cuts in succession to the beat showing lots of bails; just an idea. Get creative, have some fun with it - I think that'll work for you here.

Blondie, thanks! That sounds like a really good idea to get some quick shots in and not showing the whole trick! Really appreciate your advice!
