Atomic blog vs jj vs obsethed

hey guys i was wondering which of these skis are right for me. im 5 6 175lbs i want to float and be able to throw tricks in the bc. thanks for the input!

i would go with obsehted. if your doing booters in pow its the ski. super good float and the swing weight is low

i 179 is fine cause there is so much rocker. i have 179 hellbents and i can make tight turns and do 3s in the backcountry

IMHO k2s are noodles I have jj's and love them if you want any more info let me know I have experience on jj's bent chettys and hell bents

The bent is kind of a noodle... kind of. The seth is damp as fuck though its such a powerful ski. Haven't skied this years with the big ass nose rocker, but last model was the shit.

Idk if your talking about the bent chetler or hell bent but I will assume hell bent. And aren't most k2 skis durable and flimsy as fuck? That's kinda what I've found out by riding them

How often do you plan on landing switch? You might want to look at next year's Automatic rather than the Blog...

The blog is the lightest and the easiest to throw around. JJs isn't what I'd pick for booters, the mount is -5 and you don't want to move too far from there but they are nice and light. Obsetheds are more directional, not that much tail rocker.
I would look at Blog, Sir Francis Bacon if you are mostly on booters and the snow won't be that deep. Something like Hellbents or Ghost Chants if its going to be real deep and you want to land switch a lot, all that rocker helps (I had EP pros for years and it really makes a difference having less tail rocker).

I personally enjoy the AK JJ a lot. I havent had the opportunity to try the obsethed or the bents. The rocker 2s are good but don't seem to feel right with me. The aks are perfect for me personally. I'm only 6 7 and have the 195s. There perfect. Good for boosting off natural hits and going fast through anything. There not nessesarly the best ski for spinning though due to the size and stiffness. But the JJ is really good for that as is the new magic j I would assume

Price is undecided some guy offered 350 w/out bindings but I'm pretty sure he's gonna back out they're 185s 2010s

I've tried all 3 extensively and the blog blows the other two out of the water. the obsethed is heavy and an outdated design. The JJ is stiffer which allows a tad more control at high speeds but doesn't feel as stable underfoot. overall the blog is an amazing ski. It's a super soft design with a bit more dampness than the other two skis which I've felt allows it to snap back into place earlier if say, you start to wash out on a landing (which being a super soft ski, is always possible in the first place). The blog's good amount of taper and equal amounts of rocker in tip/tail make it one of the funnest ski's to throw around in pow forwards or switch. It's got a really nicely centered swing weight throughout the ski (I have mine mounted -2cm from center and love it, some who go switch more than me go -1 and also love it) I am 6'0" and ski the 185 (I'd love to have it even be up to 190, but one can only dream), so the 177 would be perfect for you. I also use mine as a daily driver and can throw it around on jumps in the park pretty smoothly, not sure about rails because I don't want to fuck my blogs up lol.


I don't discredit the JJ though, as it works better for some as we all have different tastes. However, the obsethed I have absolutely nothing good to say about it, k2 needs to get way more current with their designs

I rode the blog and I didn't like it because it just didnt feel like a fun ski. It felt boring kinda like a fatter shogun

The Obsethed's ski really short, They are great for stomping landings in deep pow but I hardly ever land switch so not sure how they are with that. They seem flexy but seem to have a really stiff core and the tail is not that Rockerd. Handle fine on groomers and hardpack as well and can charge through moguls and crud easy. Haven't tried the other 2 skis so couldn't really tell you but I can say you will love the obsethed's if thats what you go with.

im 5'8 200 and i rock the 185 jj at +2 from recommended mounting point and i love them. stable enough to charge in variable conditions and they spin as easy as my park skis. havent tried the k2s or atomics but the 175 jj is what i would suggest

I hated the JJ's- they are IMO a far worse design than the Obsethed for big mountain skiing- charging and dropping cliffs, although the Obsetheds are too soft, especially in the tails, for my tastes (I'm 5'11 150 lbs). I liked how damp they were. The JJ's on the other hand have a stupidly short turn radius and a very strange flex pattern that make them unstable in crud or at speed, especially on edge. On the other hand JJ's feel better in the air, have a better swing weight, and are better at landing switch in the powder. I haven't skied the Blogs so I can't comment on them.
