Who can tell me something about these skis?

I bought these skis at a Goodwill a while ago. They look pretty old, but I know nothing about them and can't find any info about them.

They are made by a brand called Sohler. The model is the "Red and White".
The bindings are mostly metal (no brakes) and the heel piece has a leather strap that holds your boot or foot in.

OP, how long are they? do modern boots fit the bindings?

somewhere around 180's maybe?
And it doesn't look like modern bindings would fit.

I've never heard of the brand, and can't find any information about where Sohler is from

here ya go

Sohler skis were German and imported into the US by Iselin Imports from 1984 until Iselin merged with Saska Ski Co. in 1986 and distributed Kneissl.

There was a small furniture factory in Richford, Vermont that was "manufacturing" some Sohler skis. Actually I believe the manufacturing was only applying the cosmetic finish.

The Sohler "Bluebird" was a very popular metal sandwich ski in 1964-66 and was raced on by German Racer Lugi Leitner with outstanding success in Downhill. Most of the Sohlers of that era were a fine quality wood ski. Two models I remember were the Phantom and the Fury.

my dad has a pair of really old k2's that have a channel cut down the center, and they're not shaped, for ultra straight line speed. ive always wanted to try them.

My dad has a ton of old skis that he collects and puts in our ski condo. The leather straps are actually what skis used to have before brakes were used. When your skis released, they acted like leashes so when you fell you had to always get tangled with them. I've skied some of our really old pairs before and its 100% different from a modern day ski. Cool to see how far we've come.
