How to do a Time Lapse on a 600D?

Is there a proper way to do this, other than just switching to video mode, filming for 10 minutes, and then fast-forwarding the clip in an editing program? If it turns out the only way to do it is in video mode, what would be the best settings then?

What is ur subject? and you want video not a long exposure picture right?
