What's the best mount?

Searchbarred it but all I found was a bunch of edits and sales.

I've been having trouble with keeping my gopro steady on follow up cams. Right now I'm using a ski pole type mount and it always seems to be pretty shaky. I've seen setups with it mounted on a vertical pole with a counter weight on the bottom, does this work well? Other ideas are appreciated too.

Really? Didn't think of that for filming others. Can you see your arms in the shot?

didnt realise you meant for filming others, i still use a pole mount but i tent to hold it really close the camera to prevent shakyness

Ive found taping a counter weight to the handle of my pole i use for my gopro, balances the weight of the camera on the other end. I used a stack of about 15 quarters. This moves the centre of mass of the set up closer to the handle and will reduce shake. The best set up would be to be holding at the balance point. Also if its really bad dont feel you have to hold the pole with one hand, the steadyness of using both hands to film makes a difference. It looks a bit wierd but if you're serious about gts-ing who gives a fuck. Getting a steadi-cam rig would solve your problems but they're expensive and probably not worth it for the level you're filming at. If you're doing static filming use some techniques photographers use to keep a steady hand (google reducing camera hand-shake)

Technique has a lot to say. Make sure your arm is straight at the elbow so that your shoulder is controlling the movement. Also keep your knees bend and bouncy so you can absorb bumps that will make the shot shaky. You probably know this, but i thought i'd mention it anyway, as I never have any problems with my polemount.

It's not too bad tho, just kinda annoying when I switch from a smooth stationary shot to a shaky follow up cam in an edit.

either way the counter weighting is a cheap partial fix worth doing.same with the shooting with two hands holding.

possibly look on youtube for a good diy steady cam rig or an opteka x-grip is what i use

Opteka X-Grip sucks so much dick it's unbelievable.

Just setup a nice little two-part pvc contraption with some counterweights and you're golden.

I used this Homebuilt glide cam (first link) for this edit and it worked really well it is very smooth and pretty inexpensive (i made mine for 50 bucks)

Thanks for responses guys! I'll def look into some steady cams as well as the glide cam. If it's outa my price range I'll resort to the pvc option. +k
