Solar Eclipse May 20th

You guys might have heard but I thought I'd pass it along. There's going to be a solar eclipse on May 20th that will pass pretty much right over tahoe/reno area. This link shows a map of the eclipse and if you click on your location it will tell you when you can see it (times given are GMT).

Remember, don't observe a solar eclipse directly without proper eye protection (welding mask, ND filter, etc)!

The eclipse, or the link? As with all eclipses, it is only visible from a portion of the earth. Sorry if you can't see it from where you are :(

I was so stoked to see it. it had been sunny for like 2 weeks then all of a sudden rainnnnnnnn.

Damn its cloudy and rain right now and has been all day. I wanted to see this but it looks like it wont be happening. Im also really interested in seeing the aurora some time hopefully we will get some big solar flares going in the summer or fall.

Actually I think I failed at the timing. Looks like happening at 5:17pm local time, but the NASA page won't load for me.

You're lookin at about a 7:20 MST peak, but only about a 80% eclipse.

Alright I did some googling and it looks like NASA's site is being crashed under the weight of all the people trying to find out when the eclipse is, but here's what I found out.

In CA time, it starts at about 5:15pm

So be ready!

I'm gonna try to get video.

just watched it from park city utah. it was almost a full ring of fire. it passed from the lower right edge along the left side and then off to the top left
