Whats the best lense for a canon t2i! HELP

so im big into photography but just starting out, i have canon t2i with stock 50 mm lense and 75 - 200 mm

lense, it doesnt have image stabilizer so it sucks, i want to get a wide angle lense for filming in the park,

but i also need a good zoom lense, i film surfing and you can get too close you know, so i dont know

what the awnser is i s just want one all around good lense that has crisp quality, i think maybe a 15- 300

or something with a wide angle attachment could be good, idk if that even exist, i just need help, post

im trying to get rid of my canon 70-300 becuase it doesnt have image stablizer and i need that! im think tabout the lens you mentioned

your problem is that you seem to think there is a do-it-all lens for the T2i. but that's one of the cool things about DSLR's; you have different lenses for different uses. and, when you buy a DSLR, you need to be aware of the fact that you're going to have to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on multiple lenses. i've spent much more on lenses than i did on my T2i body. so by looking for a single lens to cover all your needs, you're screwing yourself over and kind of defeating the purpose of a DSLR. get a 17-50, and some sort of tele (like a 70-200), then maybe a 50 down the road a little, and you'll be set.

Okay so old primes are a no go then. IS really doesn't matter that much, in some cases it will decrease sharpness (VC version of the Tamron 17-50 is more $ and less sharp), for photo just learn how to hold a camera and never shoot a shutter speed longer than your focal length. EG: with a 50mm (on a t2i 80mm), don't go below 1/80th. Pretty simple.

well even with a tripod i seem to have trouble shooting with my canon 70-300m becuase it doesnt have image stablization, i use fast shutter speeds too and it comes out blurry or something, im honostly leaning towards the tamron 18-270mm or 17-200mm

i dont think hes trolling. no way someone would put that much effort into it.

i was gonna say go buy the 18-270 and maybe learn from your own mistakes, but thats hard when mom and dad bought the lens in the first place. maybe just give up shooting.

i was going to say this earlier in the thread but i thought it would be harsh so i didn't, but seriously for someone who says they're "big into photography" you clearly know absolutely nothing. i have that same lens you're talking about and i've never had a problem with blurriness. fair enough it's not the best lens but that's not the point. if you want to learn, learn to listen to people's advice

first off reading this thread has been quite entertaining. but on the reals op I'm going to give you some legit advice right now and its the truth.

if you really care about photography the best thing you can do is invest in quality glass. that means spending a lot of money. and you really have to think of it as an investment. if you want to shoot weddings and whatever else you need nice equipment. you seem to think that you can buy one lens and get something that will cover just about any focal length. as nice as that would be, that capability and anything near quality absolutely do not go hand in hand.
its going to take some time for you to get a full arsenal of lenses. thats how it goes. you need to assess your needs and preferences and figure out which type of lens you want right now, and later down the road get more. in the meantime i would suggest renting for the occasions such as weddings when you need a particular lens.

for weddings, i'd suggest like 2 bodies, and an assload of cards/lenses/flashes/etc. Even the cheapest wedding photographers have at least 10 grand invested in their gear.

A minimum of two, I know a lot of wedding photographers who have 3, sometimes 4-5+ if they shoot film. It's not only incase something malfunctions; the majority of wedding photographers shoot primes so if you have to change a lens you might miss that moment. Being able to use 3 primes at the same time is almost as good as a zoom, well not really, haha.

And yah, you need to have days worth of batteries and tons of cards incase some of them crash or break. A lot of couples don't see the value in spending $2000 to get pictures of their wedding, but the results you get from a talented professional are worlds apart from the 15 year old with a t2i and kit lens who has been shooting for two months. /end rant

Yeah, same thing goes for guys shooting sports. They'll have about 6 cameras going on as many or more lenses and 2 assistants just there to hold up their 1200mm primes when the actions closer... shits insane.

You'd want to have a silly amount of cards, and change them constantly. if you only use a few and one gets corrupted you could lose everything.

i am shooting for my cousins wedding, shes not that weathly so she cant afford to hire a legit photgrapher, and a legit wedding, so im going to help her out and get some shots, i highly doubt shell care the quality, just as long as she has some.

so im trying to get a decent all around lens for that, i have a extended battery pack amd a few cards, so those arent a problem.

i am not shooting the whole event becuase i have to help out with other rhings (setting up, food, ect..)

i am mainly shooting the after party when they have cake, dinner, dance ect..

if that helps let me know!

dude get an 18-270 like yourself said it's the best all around lens ever, you can do everything with it since it goes from wide to tele and has image stabilizer isn't it obvious if it can do everything that it's the best
