FS: 5D Classic

I bought this camera about four years ago and it had around 15,000 clicks on it. I didn't get as into digital as I thought I would, so I'd be surprised if I put on another 2,000 in the time I have owned this body.

I have the original box, manual, and software, and there is no damage to the body aside from minor cosmetic wear. I want to keep this, but I just don't use it enough to justify it at all. I made one 72" print off the camera with a 24-70L and was really, really surprised at how good it looked, and I'm used to working with large format. Anyways, this has to go to pay for other camera gear, I was thinking $850?

I ment to have a second body that's full frame for portraits and flash work, and keep my 60d for tele, 6fps is useable, and then I could actually work free-lance because two bodies is a must, if something were to malfunction you'd be screwed.

If that's what you meant, mind your comma's.

If you would have said: [...] nice to have second, full frame, body [...], that would be ok. Like this it's like the 60D is FF too.

If you want a second body: get a 20D. Great camera, only 150$ maybe and gets the job done.

I want to eventually upgrade to a full frame camera, and keep my 60d as a second cam, not necessarily a backup. I would use a 5dc a lot differently than a 60d.

Classic NS how this thread is now about my bad grammar post as apposed to OP's 5d which is really creeping up on me but I can't justify it with the gear locker that my university (Ryerson,still haven't heard back fml, they said early may but I'm freaking out) is going to have (every L prime and most zooms, 5d's, 1d's, 4x5's, Digi hassy's for 4th years, and it goes on).

I check my account on their student site daily, it updates overnight. If I get in I'll here back this week or early next week and if I don't I didn't get 1st round and not a lot of spots free up after that (60-70 spots total), at least that's what I'm told. Worst case is I take a year off to re-apply and go ski bum in Whistler!

I'm sorry i just had to. Good luck man! even if u do get put on the waitlist, you still got a chance. I got in to my school from the wait list on August first. its was awful waiting all summer to know what my future was. but whistler is not a bad option either haha. im moving there as soon as i graduate!

Back to cameras, been looking at 30, 40 and 50d's for back up cams. is there anything i should know about the models? Like, did canon completely fuck something up, or are they all solid bodies?

It's all good, my grammar sucks and its NS. And yah, Whistler would be sick. My chances would hopefully get better if I re-applied next year because my work is getting so much better, granted it is photography so the level of applicants varies year to year.

Canon's ##d series is a banger line up. You can't go wrong with any of them, just depends what your budget is. Obviously noise performance, megapixels, and FPS (slightly) vary camera to camera but they are all great DSLR's. I always high recommend them to kids looking to get into photography, they are so much better than Canon's current rebel lineup for almost cheaper. Weather sealed, good noise performance, high fps, like what else would you need other than a full frame sensor? Honestly, I consider the 7d to be the continuation of the ##d's lineup, it increased in price due to the addition of video. The 60d sacrificed a lot of important features to keep it around $1000 with video mode, I kinda regret not saving up a few more 100 dollars to go for the 7d, in the long run it would have been such a better investment.

Just some thoughts, haha.

Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated! Prolly gonna pick up a 30 or 40d as a backup cam, as i will be doing a couple weddings this summer

I'm going to pick up my 5D tomorrow! I had been looking for one for quite some time but gave up as I really was (am!) happy with my 40D. But right when I decided I'd just stick with my 40D I stumbled upon this great deal. I can always sell it for a profit if I decide I don't like it.
Really excited how I'll like it. I'm going to sell one for sure. Curious which one it will be.

I know. Seeing as I've only got MF glass (except for my 85mm f/1.8) I'm really curious how much will fit on it.

Well whatever. Every day I start to regret not applying to college even more, still haven't heard back from Ryerson, but I've seen work from people who have been accepted and a lot of it is crap, some really talented people, and then a lot more crap.

Yea, I really feel uncomfortable with the admission processes of art and design colleges... Its a shame that in today's world its just as much a matter of having talent and passions, as it is a matter of having the right cash and knowing the right faculty. That goes for pretty much every facet of contemporary academia though, Ivy league included.

Yep, welcome to corporate america. I have a feeling that even if I get in, I won't make it though the 4 years. Photography is so subjective, if I want to shoot skiing and the prof's say no, well fuck that, I'm going to go shoot skiing. I think that I'm also going to get pissed off during first year when we're learning basic things because half my class doesn't know how to expose a photograph or understand basic composure (ro3's).

I don't even know if I'm mentally ready to go off to university next year, I keep debating a year off and risking not getting in next year (You can't defer at ryerson) When I say I wish I'd applied to college it just so I have somewhere to go, I want a university degree not a diploma though, I'm hoping to get a masters at some point. My backup is probably SPAO. Great program and facilities, tiny class sizes so your basically 1/1 with prof's, you don't get a degree or diploma at the end but its pretty well recognized, they have a huge list of alumni who have gone places.

yo zack, remember that when going into a BFA, there is a lot of emphasis placed on FINE ART. I'm getting a BFA majoring in photography, but do I want to be a photographer? Not necessarily, i'm interested in the arts, and photography is the medium that i use. If you want to be a photographer do a dope little diploma course then get a degree in business or something.

I think my problem is I don't know what I want to do with my life. At least at ryerson, if I hate it, I can transfer to business and keep the credits.
