Wow...such negativity towards a 12 year old boy that gets to live out a ski dream. I’ve never posted on here but have come to the forums from time to time to read gear reviews etc. I didn't realize that the contest winner should be the best skier in the contest...wasn't it supposed to be what you daydream about at school and not an edit of how fantastic you are? With a 3 way tie, it didn't end up being a popularity contest...the judges chose “this kid”. Obviously they liked his video and photo and saw something in him and they wanted to give him a chance. They could have chosen any of the 3, and they picked him. Who are any of you to say he doesn't have potential or ability to improve tremendously? You saw a 1 minute video! I can tell you, that “this kid”, skis at a small hill with limited resources, no airbags, water ramp etc. Closest training "camp" is over 1000 miles away. This year, the park didn't even open at his hill because there was so much snow and only one CAT to groom. Actually, they were lucky to even have a ski hill because it was at risk of closing. But some forward thinking people, including “this kid”, worked tirelessly to promote the hill, raise money and sell memberships to the first non-profit ski cooperative in Canada, and after a ton of hard work and persistence, the skiers bought the mountain…and “this kid” helped make that happen! He skis on epic snow, natural features and is too busy skiing and having fun to stop and set up to have someone take pictures and videos for "edits". The pictures and video clips he has are taken by family when they are able to catch up to him and ski where he skis. He watches ski videos every single day...365 days a year. When he’s not skiing, mountain biking, skateboarding, wakeboarding or trampolining, he’s designing skis, rails and terrain parks on paper. So don't ever underestimate his passion. Given the opportunity and the facilities, “this kid” WILL be amazing! Well, he already is...but not just in his ability to ski, but in how he treats fellow skiers. He’s the kid on the hill encouraging all the younger kids, new skiers and and the one’s that try really hard but struggle. He is so passionate about skiing that he will opt out of going on the more fun runs with friends to stick with a new skier on a green run to show them how much fun skiing can be and to pump them up so that they want to come back to the hill. I'm surprised at the "hating" going on...none of you even know “this kid” and are passing such judgment on his abilities based on a 1 min video. But then of course, I would think the best, he’s my kid. Oh, and the unicorn…that was built by his coach’s daughters for a dummy downhill race. The day of the race there was an avalanche that shut down the road to the hill so we just took some random shots of him and this silly unicorn before it was sent sailing down the hill… and having the unicorn in his video made 2 little girls very happy. And that’s the kind of kid he is…
