I have this years Salomon SPKs and teh soul plate or whatever it's called on teh bottom of the boot is a little beat up. Not too bad, but if I need to get new ones are they available?
wear them till your feet get cold and wet. then go back to a shop and buy new boots. im not too sure what you do to your boots if you are killing them that bad but whatever it is, stop doing it.
If you're talking about the pieces that are screwed into the bottom of the boot, those are the loads. These do wear down from walking around on hard surfaces (parking lot, to and from the lodge, whatever), and they are replaceable. You can get new loads at your local shop, although I don't know how much they cost.
How ruined are they? My SPKs have like 200 days on them and have hiked many a mile and they're still working fine in terms of clicking into the bindings properly.
On the bottom of an SPK are Replaceable SOLES. This is the general name for these parts, regardless of manufacturer. You might hear them called heel/toe lugs, but you will never be wrong if you call them SOLES.
Every shop has a tool that will measure heel/toe wear. Bring your boots to a shop and they will be able to tell you if you need new soles or not. it's better to do this than not since this is how your boot safely fits into your binding.
