Yo yo I just got accepted to SNC as a transfer and I'm thinking about finishing my last year of college there. Any NSers there? anybody have anything good/ bad to say about the school? I am very familiar with the Tahoe basin and truckee/donner areas, but I need some insider knowledge on the school itself. So hit me with your knowledge, is it cool, lame, in between? was at the campus yesterday looked pretty sick to me... Coming from Cal Poly SLO so I'm not really looking for the whole partying side of things...had way too much of that already...plus its fun to go cougar hunting at all the north shore bars.
I'm not in college yet but live near it kind of. I've heard great things about Sierra Nevada College, so you're lucky. I've been looking into maybe going there.
What part of Tahoe are you in? i was thinking of living probably in south lake/stateline, kings beach or truckee, cause rent in incline will probably be outrageous
Well I live in Carson City, but it's still pretty close. South shore is way more active and a better night life, as opposed to North shore which is more quiet and more older, retired people. Don't get me wrong though, both areas are sick and you'd be lucky to live in either areas. Rent is going to be outrageous wherever you are in Tahoe haha along with groceries and parking. But it's definitely worth it.
Oh yea, south shore is soo crackin, go up there every summer for July had soo many crazy times up there, last years rebulution show was the craziest night of my life. Probably gunna look for a little apartment back off of ski run or pioneer trail and put up with the 40 min commute, or a small place in kb / carnelian bay if I go north shore. Right on for the link I'll pm him once I get out of class
I dunno I haven't taken them since 08. But I know I got a 1750 sat and 31 act score and I had no problem getting accepted out of high school, I just went to poly instead lol
honestly Cal Poly is so much of a better school than SNC it would be a mistake to transfer. you should finish up at Cal Poly and then move to Tahoe if thats what youre looking for. a degree is worth so much more from there that it is definitely worth waiting the extra year.
Maybe another way of looking at it is the Cal Poly degree costs more.
Sure Cal Poly is a world-renowned school because of the reputation it has, but SNC is a great college in a great location that will still get you a degree. The name at the top of your diploma means less and less every day; so move to Incline, get shit done at SNC, and ride North lake every damn day.
+ karma for all since different viewpoints are A+++!
True that. Not to mention network and you'll meet people quickly in the small Inclined Village.
If you do think about SNC, make sure you check into their "sister schools" where you can enroll in a junior college that is a sister school to SNC and then transfer credits easily and get great cuts on tuition.
Girl I know just transferred there from Diablo Valley College and they gave her 10k. Ceramics cheeya.
not the greatest school from what I've heard, but whatever. and it definitely depends what degree you're looking for.
Anyways, definitely north lake--my opinion: way better skiing, I got a better vibe living in north lake than visits to south lake, and incline has T's Rotisserie, which is reason enough.
