Never ran track, but got down to about a 19 minute 5k last fall. If my knee's good for it this summer, I'm hoping to run some more for pleasure.

I run for université Laval...but yeah, Guelph's distance program is really solid, the did win 6 or 7 XC nationals in a row. Our team is slowly starting to reach their level tho.

And blackmamba, beating jean-sam in high school is quite a claim haha!

XC is soccer season.. But I run track, sprinting though. My PR's are 22.9 in te 200m, 11.3 in 100m, and 52.5 in 400m. My 4x1 this year is killer! We ran a 43.8, and won a ton of shit.

I run about 8-10.5 miles a day 4 days a week, but i dont do track or xc because lax is where its at boiii

i used to run middle distances and cross country in high school. now i just cycle. i was always pretty good at the 800 - 2k range. i can sprint pretty hard for about that long, but im not overly fast (so no short distance) nor do i have the conditioning to go for much longer. shit was a lot of fun too. i hate running, and long distances are painfully boring. i'd much rather cycle and cover a lot of territory and enjoy the scenery. running turns into CLIP CLOP CLIP CLOP and i just want to stop. guhhhh.

i feel the same way. when im older ill probably just bike around a lot for exercise. running destroys your body too which is unortunate :/

But in competition you'd get killed, competitive high school times are in the mid 9:00's.

I did my first season of cross country last fall. It was probably the first time I ever ran over a mile and by the end of the season, my time for a 5k was about 19:30. My first sub 20 was the best feeling in the world.

a couple of my friends did the crispy cream challenge in which you run 2 miles, eat 12 doughnuts, then run 2 more miles under an hour. to my surprise 4 of them suceeded

yeah thats simalar to a race/fundraiser my school put on, called the chocolate milk mile, 12 ounces a lap, 4 laps... i might do it this year actually. the best time someone ran, not including the time stopped to drink was a 5:07

My mile PR is over 5 minutes but my 800 is 2:03, idk how that worked out. I was 5th fastest on my high school team, 3 seconds away from going to states :/ A kid on my team ran 9:00 in the 2 mile to take the d1 championship in MI.
400: 56
800: 2:03
1600: 5:00
3200: 10:50
5000: 17:30

Aww man I'm just finding this thread! My PR for a 5k in Cross Country is 17:34, I went to states in New York this year too, I really wish I had another year of it. I also just finished my Outdoor Track career getting 2nd at stat qualifiers with a PR of 2:05 in the 800m. I also won my heat of the 800m at a big invitational which was really cool.

Any Newschoolers who were at Mew York Cross Country States this past fall? Very curious!
