CU Boulder Skiing options?

Hey so i'm going to Boulder for school next year and a friend of mine suggested i ski at Eldora mid-week and make the trek over to like keystone for the weekends. Fist off is that a good idea? i hear Eldora blows for all types of skiing, but i also looked at alot of threads saying they are picking up their game as far as the park scene (what im interested in mid week). Also is there a bus that i can take that will get me to keystone? I'm just interested in what my options are. i'm sure a lot of kid going to boulder are faced with this. let me know

Get epic local pass
Get friend(s) with car(s)
(friend with a place in the mountains is good too)
Ski breck during the week
Keystone during the weekends
Abay early and late season
Vail/breck on pow days

There's a ski bus that goes to vail.breck/keystone. it usually goes up like 20 days a season. i know a few people who ski eldora, the only reason being because it's much closer than the big mountains

take tues-thurs or mon-wed-fri classes and ski breck 4-5 days a week

I had an Eldora pass and an Epic pass. I skied eldora on days when I had a half day off, or I couldn't figure out a ride. Key/Breck on weekends. Try and get a day off, it will make your life awesome.

Eldora isn't the best mountain. They had an ok park, really only worth it if you don't have a car.( a bus goes there).

Breck is straight awesome, as is keystone.

and find friends who have cars to ride up to the mtns with. way easier/better than the ski bus. also epic local is all you need. pre/post season fun at abay. breck and key for all your park needs. and 10 pow days at vail.

not that hard. youre a freshman so you have last pic for classes, but also can take all entry level gen-ed requirements so youll have a lot of options. i knock out all my big courses during the fall semester (no skiing until halfway through) and jerk off in the spring with 12 creds and 2/3 days of week of class.
basically just pay extra attention when your making your schedules to the times class meet and youll be gravy. no 8am's and 2 or 3 days of class per week.

buy the epic local pass and utilize that as much as possible. I was a freshman this year and had no problem getting to the mountains, make friends with cars! Second semester i had all Tuesday thursday classes so just find a homie o that goes up every wednesday or friday and link up with them. Weekends aren't a problem everyone is always trying to shred all you need to do is throw gas money.

and there is the ski bus, if your part of CU heard tickets round trip tickets are only like 7$ in advance or 15 the day before witch isn't too bad.

Also a good thing to do is get a group of people to throw on a hotel room, it ends up being around 20$ a person for gas and a hotel room if you cram like 8 people and you can ski both days.

I never made it to el dora this year but a buddy of mine works there and said its a good time, its only about 40 minutes away so how can you go wrong. They have an alright park apparently, but def make it to breck or key whenever possible.

DOnt take classes with recitations. just go for the 75 minute classes its easier to customize your schedule, that way you can get days off. PLus recitations blow.

don't go there.



Breck is 1000000 times better.
they have free concerts
they stay open for an extra three weeks
you can hit a ton of jumps
come spring, the lips aren't nearly as big so even if you're a pussy like ElGato, you'll still be able to progress
keystone doesn't care about the people who ride there
keystone's park is much more crammed

the only time it makes sense to go to keystone is early season when Breck isn't open/ when their park is first being setup




i wouldn't recommend buying an Eldora pass..
it's unlikely that you'll use it very much

Chill. Keystone is an amazing park to ride, they have some of the best creative features every year. The up flat canon, bottom wallride, 5 kink, curving double kink, and s rail are just a few reasons you should ride key along with breck. ESPECIALLY on the weekends.

If you hate driving a lot then i recommend winter park, you don't have to do the tunnel and it is pretty good, although if you're looking for park it isn't as great as the epic local mountains. I would get that pass but I can't stand waiting for 2 hours to drive 2 miles from silverthorne to the eisenhower tunnel on weekends.

But if you can, ski backcountry, it is the shit. Vail Pass or Berthoud Pass. Just drop all the bank 1 year and you're set for life. take a class, get a beacon, probe, shovel, pack, and at bindings, and then you'll get pow all day every day. Plus, no park jump can compare to a backcountry jump and the reward of hitting what you built and having a consequence free landing. So much fun.
