*****Pokemon Fans - try this challenge*****

So idk if you have ever heard of the Nuzlocke Challenge. I have heard of it years ago, but have never had an open file to actually do it.

I am doing it on cartridge sapphire
my friend is attempting on fire red cartridge

Here are the official rules:

These are the staple rules:
1. If a pokemon faints, you must release it no matter what
2. You can only catch the first pokemon encountered in each area.
3. You MUST name all of your pokemon
4. if you lose all of your pokemon it is game over

Basically there are many variations but here are the rules my friend and I have also added.
- No potions/ethers/x-attacks(etc)/full heals/berries/hp ups(etc)
- Must release starter after 1st badge
- No use of vs. seeker
- No legendaries
- if you forget to name your pokemon you must release (has happened to me already)
- no held items
- no trades to evolve a pokemon
- no in game trades with ppl in the game


And for clarification we determined the "area" of catch-able pokemon to be the following
- patch of grass
- 1 fish per body of water (only 1 rod aloud) or 1 surf attempt
- 1 attempt per floor of cave or building
- per patch of grass in forest is acceptable
- if you have already caught a pokemon and they are the first in the next patch of grass you must move on. (you can still train but cannot catch)
- if you have caught one, it has died and you released it, you cannot re-catch it, even if you encounter it first.
- NO SAFARI ZONE

Some other ridiculous rules that I have seen are
- black/white out is game over
- limit the use of poke marts
- only use trainers as a way of leveling up
- only use potions and ethers.... no poke centers

My friend lost his squirtle before brock on a critical hit. Luckily he got a mankey on his first hit through the 1 patch where you can catch one, so at least he can beat brock.
I caught a taillow and was tearin it up in the forest and it also died of critical hit. My treecko also died from poison as well...

If you are tired of raping every run through i suggest you give it a try. Honesty with yourself is the most important. No turning off if something ridiculous happens... you're just cheating.

i got poisoned in the forest and couldnt make it back to a poke center, didnt have enough health for the steps to make it there
and the rule I applied was that you just simply get rid of the starter after the first gym leader.

quick update, just beat 2nd gym leader, lost a zubat and a poochyena.. rollin with a kadabra (luckily caught an abra) and a lombre, not doin so hot. Gettiing poisoned is a bitch, gotta stay close to the pokecenters. Teleport has been clutch

I played it last year in Fire Red, it was cool and all, but took way to long. I eventually beat the game and what not, but it's not something I would do again.

Don't really feel like trying that, but the Pokemon: Hard Mode comics are fucking legendary, when the Lost references start popping up it's Sidehold Central all the way through.

I find it is more or less a test of your smartts and endurance. Basically getting lucky sometimes, grinding hard with training, and being careful for battles. THe elite four scares the shit out of me, just the thought

So i decided to name my pokemon according to digimon names.

Made it to the viridian forest so far.

Team
lv 11 Apepigmon (Mankey)
lv 10 Squirtmon (Squirtle)

Im having a lot of fun so far its definitely about resourcefulness and such. the elite four is going to be insane.

aight i was 4 badges deep in sapphire, after some shit went down i was left with

DUKE - machoke
DINKLEBURG - kadabra.

im in a gen 3 game and using gen 1s so im like eff this...
literally all my gen 3s iwas carrying are dead
swablu (cotton pik'r)
lombre (jenny lee)
plusle (pussyfoot)
sableye (carter)
started in fire red, random pick of starter, got charmander

released after i beat brock.

DID NOT get mankey in the grass which sucked, but got a pikachu in last patch of grass in viridian forest which is mad clutch.

so as of now i am just in cerulean with:
Sparky - lvl 20 pikachu
Ratfuck - lvl 18 rattata
fungo - lvl 12 paras

i should be breezin through mistys whore ass

Started this yesterday on an emulator playing pokemon yellow (the classics are the best)
just beaten brock like a boss.
got a lv13 butterfree called PRTZL-MAN and a pidgey at lv13 called AFTRBNGKNG
had to box my lv 12 pikachu called WALDO after not needing him to fight brock, it made me sad but i cant release him
I had a heartbreaking moment when my caterpie called T-WALL fainted and had to release him..
but i got over this loss by catching a metapod (now my butterfree) trained painfully all day today as all it fucking knew was harden so it was a case of having it up first and swapping it out but its a total boss now and dicks on everyone elses pokemon with confusion.

So far I'm on the 3rd gym on Emerald. I'm trying to get my Baton Pass team together and then its free flowing from there because it's pretty much impossible to beat. Sucks I can't throw a focus band on my sweeper though :(
