Buying Refurbished DSLRs?

I was looking at this camera and am going to save up the money...I know everyone is going to say the kit sucks, but I'm ok with it because I'm getting a job and will save up for lenses. But has anyone on here had bad experiences with buying a refurbished DSLRs. My parents want me to save more and get a new one because "there is so many intricate parts and electrical aspects to the camera". So I'm asking you if there is a down side to purchasing a refurbished DSLR if it was refurbished by the original manufacturer (Canon).

Actually a lot of people including myself believe it's better to purchase refurbished as opposed to new. See when a camera comes out of the factory, it might be prone to what i call "factory defects." Canon has no way of testing a camera when it's made, so they just assemble it and ship it out. With refurbished, it means the camera has gone in for repair, been fully restored, TESTED, then shipped back out for re-sale. This means when you buy a refurbished camera it's actually coming with a guarantee it's fully functional and has absolutely no problems.

I bought my Canon 600D refurbished, it's been over 4 months now and I've had no problems with it. I bought warranty as well just in case, so if something does happen, I will most likey be covered under the warranty!

I bought refurbed. its the shit. my t3i has been fine so far. and way cheaper.

The only thing that really matters is how clean the sensor is and any minor dirt can be cleaned off. Cosmetic damage doesnt really make a difference, it matters to some people but other than that. B&H has a great used store so deffinately check there. Same with adorama.

My 60d looked brand new when I bought it, it was perfectly clean, no dirt or dust in any of the cracks, no scratches or dings.. it looked like a brand new camera

i bought a refurb t2i last summer and literally forgot it was refurbished for a while. no problems at all.

The only reason they tell you the camera is refurbished and sell it for less is because they are required by law to do so. A refurbished product goes through the same, if not better quality control and they almost always replace any pieces with cosmetic damage as well. You would be a fool to purchase a new one to make yourself feel better. Always go refurbished if able.
