Is it better to download music from small artists and not support the artist but help get their name out there by listening to the music and sharing it with friends or not download and listen to it at all?

Download from small artists is better I think. Otherwise I wouldn't listen to them at all and would never end up at their shows. It's not even really an option; I cannot afford to buy my music

Morally maybe. But realistically it doesn't help them at all if you don't do anything, and it helps them a little bit if you steal it and listen to it. It may help them more if you buy it, but hey, who buys music?

Most small artists today realize that people dont buy music anyways.. give it away for free at the beginning, and hopefully it'll come back to you in the end..

but seriously if i REALLY love a band or album I'll buy it. because i want a hard copy to keep for the future. for example i have every blink182 album and i cant wait for a day in the future when i find them in an old box and show them to my kids.
