Biggest pet peeve

Whats your biggest pet peeve to do with editing, filming or anything related to M&A?

A couple of mine:
-Shaky footage
-When my glidecam shots are wobbly
-Non HD footage (unless its film or well filmed)
-Loud wind noises above music

Whats yours?

-when you go to film with just a few friends, and every single person you know at the hill that day wants to get shots..

-filming with multiple cameras for a single project and having to create multiple sequences.

-as mentioned before, shaky shots...

-seeing a shot in your mind, and it not turning out to be good looking at all.

-have tons of banger shots, realize you have minimal shots for an intro... THE WORST

Since im too poor to invest in walkie talkies, constantly yelling back and forth to the rider trying to tell them how to hit it and when to go.

Holy bejesus this.

Its like we got a solid crew going already, don't need the extra people slowing us down. Especially if skills are sub par.


Also getting colors right.

when you spend 2 days at louise forget your battery the first day and at the end of the second day you realize you had your exposure comp. set up high for some stupid reason
- you set out to film a few friends and 30 kids want shots of absolute junk
- when a friend sends you 200 billion gopro shots of junk and wants you to make an edit out of it
- shaky/out of focus shots

i could go on and on..............

EASILY THE SHITTIEST THING

When you're the kid that can film and come up with decent shots but yet you still ski and when you try to get shots with your friends they just blow it at filming and its the most frustrating thing ever

- Edits that are 100% follow cams
- Rap/mashup/womp music
- Crappy tripods and all its effects
- Sloppy composition
- Filling the frame with the skier
- Not letting the skier travel across the frame; "dead pans"
- Crushed blacks
- Clipped highs
- Sharp knees
- Superfluous shallow DOF
- High contrast
- Twixtor
- People who use flashy effects and animations for no reason other than the fact that they can
- People who think there is such thing as "real looking"

I've had this a lot this season and gotta say there's nothing wrong with broadening music options, as long as they know you have the final say.
But for a good post season rant:
-"dude, can I get that shot"
-"whens my edit gonna be up"
-dead batteries
-thinking shots are coming out dope...until the day's over and the glidecam was off by just that much
-mic falling off the lift and never seeing it again...
-"yo, can I get those shots soon?"

-when people slam the bar down when i have a backpack on and holding tripod/steadicam
-the amount of times every day i get asked what my steadicam is/does
-"getting some good shots today?!?!?!"
-taking all my gear on the mandatory 100 person gondola to get to my hill
-taking the transit bus with all my gear to my mountain
-riders not wanting to wait for tripod filming

shooting when it's overcast. I hate hate hate it, unless I'm motivated to bring all my lighting gear... which is a pain in the ass.

Blowing focus.

Forgetting to track the action when shooting strobes during the day.

Not owning PW that allow me to sync fast.

My stupid hands that stop moving the second I press the shutter release when I do remember to track.

When you burst photos and the best frame would have been in between the two that you got.

Fuckin' goombas that think it's funny to spray me when I'm setting up for a shot. Even better when they don't stop to grin at me like we're friends and that's ok - because then I can't get in their shit about spraying my gear. I'll deck you next time.

Wasatch wigglers that wiggle the landings of our jumps because it's their favorite "steep shot in this zone, man".

i have 2 vivitar 285hv's and they have quite the prominent one/off switch. as a result, one of my bigger pet peeves, when they turn on in my bag and drain the batteries so i have no flashes to shoot with. they also take 4 AA's each so buying new batteries is the biggest pain in the ass.

this, even when i'm not filming. my bacon's don't fit in the ski holders on the gondola at my mountain, and because they are 184's, it can be hard to get them into the gondola, so I go in first if I'm with friends. Gets so annoying when there is a new lift who asks if I'm too cool to share a gondola, or when someone gives me shit for bringing the skis in

Vivitars are like 100-200 flashes per set of batteries. I'd be changing mine multiple times a shoot before I switched to yongnuo's.

I just hate sending shots unless its actually important.

Me too... Especially the last one.
What I do is that I don't load everything onto my computer anymore, and then delete the ones I don't like. Instead I only load the ones I like and delete the rest. That way I'm not stuck with shitty photo's.

Also: people telling you to take pics of every useless little thing out there. So annoying.
