Whats your biggest pet peeve to do with editing, filming or anything related to M&A?

A couple of mine:
-Shaky footage
-When my glidecam shots are wobbly
-Non HD footage (unless its film or well filmed)
-Loud wind noises above music

Things I do that piss me off:
- When my focus ring gets turned accidentally and I don't realize it.
- When I forget my mic, Memory card or battery at home
- Forgetting to turn mic on
- Forgetting to switch to 60p after filming in 24p

-Shitty riders
-Shitty stabilization
-Shitty lighting
-Lack of inspiration
-Inability to find music
-Not being able to think of a good intro
-Friends that film with GoPros that are legitimately so god awful at filming that the footage looks like it was stabilized with a stack of rocks

Pretty much every time I look at my edits I think they'll terrible. I should be getting my tripod dialed in within the next few weeks as well as my glidecam witch I'm stoked on. Next season I'll also have upgraded to a new camera with full manual exposure, mix input, as well as upgraded framerates. Really excited to dial in my setup.

-Focus ring gets turned.

When the focal plane is just in front of someones eyes with an exceptionally shallow depth of field.

Interlaced footage.

When iso is so high I SO don't even know what to say... (Get it?)

People taking credit and/or being given credit for my ideas/work.

Never once being satisfied with anything I've ever made. No matter how much time/effort is put into it, I cannot produce quality work.

More or less pet peeves...

This list is more applicable to my filming/editing rather than other edits...
-Trying to get tripod shots and hotlap
-Off-balance glidecams
-Wind chatter
-Finding good music for edits... literally the worst
-Followcams in choppy snow (almost ate shit a few times this month...)
-Noisy/grainy images
-oversaturation
-"black trees"
-RIDERS THAT NAG/COMPLAIN

Well for photo:

- You load film wrong and it doesn't catch and you keep shooting.
- You tear your film because you aren't paying attention when your shooting 24 frame and keep shooting to 36.
- Lab fudges your film or the negs are all scratches, never go to a grocery store!
- Setting up flash stands, flash dies, flash doesn't fire, flash falls off the stand and breaks, stand gets knocked over by the wind, having to skate/ski with all your flashes/stands/otherstuff
- Dirty Sensor, Dirty lens and I'm out of wipes.
- "Can I take a photo with your film camera?", do you know how to focus?, "No, I just want to take a picture."
- "Can I see the photo?", I'm shooting film, "Lol, why digital is so much better." F&#*(%&$*%&#!
- "Do you have a fisheye?" "Can you shoot fisheye for this one." "Fisheye looks so much better." "Why are you shooting tele fisheye makes it look bigger." (20 stair hand rail, 80 foot kicker....)

Why would you shoot film? It's expensive and just inhibits creative vision by being a harder medium to use.

the last real week or school..and my friend is complaining an edit isn't up 2 days after we filmed.. and we suck at filming/riding so it just doesn't matter when it goes up ha. and he is texting me his tricks and the order he would like them in..so bossy always./endrant

- When people extremely overhype their own shitty work. (Just because you use a DSLR doesn't make your work good.)

- Shooting footage and thinking it will turn out great, and at the end of the day it's subpar.

- When young kids incessantly nag me to make them an edit.

- Envisioning an edit in your head, and at the end of editing it doesn't turn out the way you would like.

That's all I have, but I have one other thing to add, not really a pet peeve.

- Shooting footage that you think is meh at the time, and realizing through the power of editing it actually can turn out nice. I fucking love that.

No, just no.

IMO it just looks better. Nothing beats a role of Ilford hp5, its so much better, and portra 400 has the best colours. Also film grain looks amazing and digi grain looks like shit. I also completely disagree with "it inhibits creative vision". You have to think so much more when you only have 24/36 shots and your spending money every time you click the shutter. My film shots always come out better than my digital shots right from the camera. Don't get me wrong, I definitely couldn't shoot without my digital setup, I use it all the time for payed work and action sports, but film still has a place in a photographers bag.

everything I do, Im so fucking picky!

Sometimes I mix in other peoples shots and I Lose it if a single setting is not done in a smart way. I can see when the shutter speed is too slow or fast and it pisses me off.

Or people who edit so fucking saturated and contrasted on top of camera settings that are the same. The result is a textureless ugly blob of color.

yeah, plus its usually pretty easy to cut them out.....most of the photogs ive worked with know whats going on, and have respect and rarely walk in front of me (or do it quickly)....but yu always get that rookie photog who stands in front of u for awhile cuz he doesnt know whats up
