thats very opinionated because there is so many for every kind ofstyle and everyone has different needs and wants when choosing boards. some people want a soft flex while others want a stiff board. or drop through or top mount. it all depends on how you ride and the discipline you ride.

get inline skates for some hardcore parkour.


naw longboarding is fun and id suggest taking an old skateboard and putting some longboard wheels on it. it makes it look similar to a jacked up subaru.

I guess it's not really a longboard but it's fun as hell.

Really though there are lots of good boards out there. I like my loaded tan tein almost as much as my penny and a lot more than my skateboard.

why? loaded boards are nice but you can get boards just as good an even better than loaded for cheaper. I'd rather ride comet or bustin' boards and theyre just as high quality as loaded boards.

yeah they're "just as high quality " so why not? ... I have a sector nine and i love it. my cousin has a tan tien and id trade any day. ... id also love to try a penny board. they look so fun :P

Loaded over inflate their prices for what you get. Get a BC Moray, same board as a tan tien and its built a lot better. Penny's are stupid as shit. I can get you a discount on Bustin's too

all about how you ride. you get what you pay for but here are some brands i like. original (yes their trucks are great), honey, kahuna, kracked skulls, and landyatchz. theres a lot of good ones out there

I got the tan tein way before they were popular. I know that that is a super hipster thing to say but it's true. I got it from insurance money two years ago when my car got broken into.

I also had no idea the penny was a trend. I don't know anyone else with one...

BC Moray is a sick drop through with nice double kick tails, the dk penguin by longboardlarry seems sick and i have a hole some ss by lbl and i love it, its meant for downhill but i have the trucks mounted close together so it has nice tails.

the tan tien isn't good for anything really.

It's shitty freeride board, certainly not a dh/speed board, not at all a cruising board, a lousy carver...

how about you tell me what other boards you have ridden and how the tan tien is good at anything?

and don't post a loaded video, especially tim tam, because every loaded rider would be riding another deck if they weren't paid to ride loaded.

well if your willing to spend a fair amount of money go for a loaded, earthwing, or bustin. Penny boards for mini's, and landyachtz if you want a great strict downhill board.

My quiver right now is:

Loaded Bhangra flex 1 with paris trucks and orangatang stimulus wheels (purple) Although I am going to switch wheels to the new Otang Baluts (purple)

Custom downhill/freeride board with bear grizzly trucks and some cheap ass no name wheels I got off a friend (gonna move the stims to this board)

And I am babysitting these for the summer:

Loaded dervish flex 2 w/ paris trucks and abec 11 wheels
Loaded vangaurd flex 2 w/ paris trucks and S9 wheels
Some cheap POS board my friend got at play it again sports and is letting me mod the fuck out of it.

haha i dont even own a tan tien man. its just that everyone one here seems to be an expert as to why the tan tien sucks...and that^^ certainly isn't an opinion based answer at all....

Well, I did own a tan tien, and I can tell you that having really tried, I can't find anything I like about the board.

yeah, all the 12 year olds that push around the neighborhood love theirs, but when you start doing any tech riding you realize that the board is not all it's hyped up to be. Combine that with a $190 retail and you're going to get a lot of unhappy reviews.

anyways yeah sure i believe you. but everyone still seems to complain and whine about the board more so than prove why it sucks.. you owned one and didn't like it fair nuff, but i doubt everyone else has :P

kicktails are only semi functional

Not really. There a lot of boards that push nicely, even being mongo. Tan Tiens and Dervishs are just too flexy when pushing, when you ride at the Loaded recommended flex anyway.

I guess I'm a hypocrite for saying all Loaded's suck. I have a Bhangra and that is almost my favorite board to ride.

the loaded tan tien (deck only) runs $190, google it, it's waaaaayyy overpriced.

I just sold a beat to shit deck on ebay for 110, and I mean beat.
kids go crazy for loaded stuff for no apparent reason.

I bought my tan tein complete for 215CAD, just looked it up. I think it is a great board, never knew it was popular (although I have seen quite a few around this spring) but I would NEVER pay $200 for just the deck. I don't get how you can even compare a tan tein to a sector 9 campus cruiser type thing. A tan tein is a great deck for what it was built to do. But the price for me would we a dealbreaker. For that much you should be able to get a nicer deck or a deck and at least wheels.

honest opinion needed...are these penny boards a complete joke?  i really just want a board for cruising long distances (not necesairly bombing hills/sliding around b/c my area is pretty flat) when i'm not riding my regular board.  mainly as a form of exercise i guess.  i can get one of these complete for under a hundred.  would i be better putting this 100 towards something else?

Penny Boards are a joke they are not functional at all and uncomfortable to push for long distances. You should just look into cruiser decks and get a pair of 20 dollar randal 180s on amazon you can set yourself up with a real nice set up for nearly the same price maybe 20 to 40 dollars more but you got something you like to ride and is functional for commuting/ pushing around.
