you're right, it isn't the worst place ever, but I'd argue it's much closer to the bottom of the barrel than the top, even for midwest resorts, especially for terrain park/challenging terrain. Iowa in general is just a pretty terrible state to be stuck in as a skier. Let me guess, you ski 7 jokes or blowstar? if so, I am truly sorry.
I would be so stoked to be able to ski Sundown on a regular basis though, if it wasn't for a minnesota trip this year I literally wouldn't have hit a jump bigger than 5 feet. and by literally 5 feet I mean literally 5 goddamn feet.
haha it's all good man, I give you props for making the most out of what you've got. if you're looking to make a little midwest trip next winter, I highly recommend Chestnut. It's about 40 minutes east of Dubuque and is so worth it over Sundown. also they have a hotel right on the hill and prices are pretty reasonable, so you can make a weekend out of it!
